Chapter 1: The Introduction
第一章：介紹

我禮敬過去、未來、現在一切諸佛、菩薩、辟支佛和聲聞。
1.1I pay homage to all the buddhas, bodhisattvas, pratyekabuddhas, and noble śrāvakas in the past, future, and present.
1.1我頂禮過去、未來、現在的一切諸佛、菩薩、辟支佛和聖者聲聞。
Thus did I hear at one time.
我聞如是。一時。
The Tathāgata was dwelling
如來住在靈鷲山，在法界之中。
On Vulture Peak, in the Dharma realm,
在靈鷲山上，於法界中，
The profound buddha field of activity.
深妙的佛國土事業領域。
He taught this Sublime Golden Light—
他教說了這部《妙金光明經》——
Which is the lord king of sūtras—
這是經之王——
To the supreme bodhisattvas,
對於至高的菩薩們，
Who are pure and immaculate.
他傳授這部妙金光明經——
它是經之王——
給最高的菩薩，
他們是純淨和清淨的。
聆聽它是深奧的。
It is profound to listen to
聆聽時深奧難懂
And profound to analyze.
也深刻於分析。
It has received the blessings
它已經獲得了諸佛的加持
Of the buddhas in the four directions:
四方諸佛之中：
The Buddha Akṣobhya in the east, [F.2.a]
東方的阿閦佛，
The Buddha Ratnaketu in the south,
南方的寶幢佛，
The Buddha Amitābha in the west,
西方的阿彌陀佛，
And the Buddha Dundubhisvara in the north.
及北方的鼓音聲佛。
“I will teach that which is blessed,
「我將教授這被祝福的，
Which is a teaching of supreme auspiciousness,
這是最高吉祥的教法，
In order to eliminate all bad actions.
為了消除一切惡業。
“It will bestow every happiness;
「它將賜予一切幸福；」
It will eliminate all suffering.
它會消除一切苦難。
It is the basis of omniscience,
它是遍知的基礎，
And it is adorned by every splendor.
它被一切光輝所莊嚴。
“Beings with impaired faculties,
「具有根機不足的眾生，
Whose lives are in decline and ending;
生命衰落走向終結的眾生；
Those who are beset by misfortune,
那些被不幸所困擾的眾生，
Who have been forsaken by the devas,
被天人所舍棄的人，
“Who are hated by their spouses and other people,
誰被配偶和他人所憎恨，
Who are tormented by family and servants,
被家人和僕人所折磨的人，
Who are in conflict with others,
與他人發生衝突的人，
And who are oppressed by loss of wealth;
以及那些因為喪失財富而遭受壓迫的人；
“Those who are miserable, tired, and ruined,
那些痛苦、疲倦、衰落的人，
Who are frightened and in distress,
那些感到害怕和痛苦的人，
Who are oppressed by planets and lunar asterisms,
被星曜和月宿所困擾的人，
And who are afflicted by dreadful demons;
以及被可怖的惡魔所折磨的人；
“And those who see evil in their dreams
以及那些在夢中看到邪惡的人
Arising from misery and fatigue
從痛苦和疲勞中生起
Should wash themselves clean
應當洗淨自己
And listen to this supreme sūtra.
並聽聞此殊勝的經。
“For those who listen to this sūtra,
「對於聽聞這部經的人，
This profound field of the buddhas,
這個諸佛深廣的福田，
With a lucid mind and good motivation,
以清明的心念和善良的動機，
And dressed in clean clothes—
穿著潔淨的衣服——
“For all those beings
「對於所有這些眾生
All those dreadful misfortunes
所有那些可怕的不幸
Will always come to an end
將永遠得以結束
Through the brilliance of this sūtra.
通過這部經的光輝。
“The guardians of the world themselves
世界的守護者們本身
And their ministers and army generals,
以及他們的大臣和軍隊將領，
As well as a multitude of millions of yakṣas,
以及數百萬的夜叉，
Will be their protectors.
將成為他們的保護者。
“The great goddess Sarasvatī [F.2.b]
偉大的女神辯才天女
And Nairañjanavasinī,
與居住在尼連禪河的女神，
Hārītī, the mother of spirits,
訶利帝母，眾鬼神之母，
And Dṛḍhā, the goddess of the earth;
以及堅牢地神，大地的女神；
“The lords of Brahmā devas, lords of the devas;
梵天天神的主宰，天人的主宰；
The greatly powerful lords of the nāgas;
威力無比的龍王們；
And the lords of the kinnaras, the lords of the asuras,
還有緊那羅的眾主，阿修羅的眾主，
And similarly the lords of the garuḍas
同樣地，迦樓羅的諸位主宰
“Will come to the place where those people are,
「將會來到那些人所在的地方，
Accompanied by troops and steeds,
帶領著軍隊和馬匹，
And will be their protectors,
將會是他們的保護者。
Attentive day and night.
日夜專心諦聽。
“I will elucidate this sūtra,
「我將為你闡述這部經，
Which is the profound field of the buddhas,
這是諸佛深奧的修行之地，
Which is the secret of all buddhas,
這是所有諸佛的祕密，
And which is difficult to obtain in a million eons.
而且在百萬個劫中都難以得到。
“Those who hear this sūtra
聽聞這部經的人
And cause others to hear it,
及令他人得聞此經，
And those who rejoice in this sūtra,
以及那些為此經而歡喜的人，
And those who make offerings to it,
以及向此經作供養的人，
“Throughout millions of eons
「在千百萬個劫中
Will themselves receive offerings
自己也會獲得供養
From devas, nāgas, and humans,
來自天人、龍和人類。
And from kinnaras, asuras, and yakṣas.
以及緊那羅、阿修羅和夜叉。
“For beings who create this merit,
對於創造這份功德的眾生，
There will arise for them
將會為他們而生起
An infinite, incalculable,
無邊、難思量的
Inconceivable mass of merit.
不可思議的功德聚集。
“They will be taken into the care
他們將被納入照顧
Of the perfect buddhas in the ten directions,
十方圓滿的諸佛
And similarly by the bodhisattvas
同樣地，由菩薩們
Who have profound activity.
具有深遠願行的菩薩。
“Having put on clean clothes,
「穿著清淨的衣服，
Wearing perfumed clothing,
穿著香氣芬芳的衣服，
And having a loving mind,
具有慈悲的心念，
They should offer without distraction.
他們應當專心致志地進行供養。
“They should make their
「他們應當使自己的
Own minds pure and vast,
自己的心念清淨廣大，
And with minds filled with faith,
以及以信心充滿的心。
They should listen to this sublime sūtra.
他們應當聆聽這部殊勝的經。
“Those who listen to this sūtra
「那些聽聞這部經的人
Will be welcomed among humans,
將獲得人間的歡迎
Will attain an excellent human existence,
將獲得殊勝的人身。
And will live happy lives.
並將過著幸福安樂的生活。
“Those in whose ears
「那些耳中
This teaching sounds
這部教法的聲音
Will plant good roots
將種植善根
And be praised by many buddhas.”
並且會受到許多佛的讚歎。
