Chapter 15: The Goddess Sarasvatī
第十五章：薩囉斯瓦蒂天女
15.1Then the great goddess Sarasvatī, with her robe over one shoulder, kneeling with her right knee on the ground and her palms together in homage, bowed toward the Bhagavat and said to the Bhagavat, “Venerable Bhagavat, I, the great goddess Sarasvatī, will bring eloquence to the words of those dharmabhāṇakas so that their words will be beautified. I will also bestow on them the power of mental retention. I will establish them in giving definitions. I will illuminate those dharmabhāṇakas with the great light of knowledge. If any line of verse or syllables of this Lord King of Sūtras, the Sublime Golden Light is left out, or forgotten, [F.232.a] I will bring all definitions, lines of verse, and syllables to those dharmabhāṇaka bhikṣus.
15.1那時大天女薩囉斯瓦蒂，偏袒右肩，右膝著地，合掌恭敬，向薄伽梵頂禮，對薄伽梵說："尊者薄伽梵，我大天女薩囉斯瓦蒂，將使那些法師的言語具有辯才，使他們的言詞得以莊嚴。我也將賜予他們陀羅尼的力量。我將使他們安住於解釋義理。我將用智慧的大光明照耀那些法師。若有人遺漏或遺忘了這部經王《金光明尊勝王經》的任何句頌或字句，我將把所有的義理、句頌和字句都傳授給那些法師比丘。"
15.2“So that this Lord King of Sūtras, the Sublime Golden Light may remain for a long time in Jambudvīpa and not quickly vanish; so that beings can accomplish roots of merit with a hundred thousand buddha bhagavats; so that many beings on hearing this Lord King of Sūtras, the Sublime Golden Light may develop inconceivably sharp wisdom; so that they may gain an inconceivable aggregation of wisdom; so that they may attain good fortune in this life; so that they may have benefit in life and possess an immeasurable aggregation of merit; so that they may seek a variety of methods; so that they may become learned in all treatises; and so that they may attain perfection in a variety of arts, I will bestow the power of retention so that they will not forget.
15.2「為使經王金光明尊勝王經長久住於贍部洲而不速滅；為使眾生能與百千萬佛薄伽梵成就功德根；為使多數眾生聞此經王金光明尊勝王經後能生起不可思議的銳利智慧；為使他們獲得不可思議的智慧聚集；為使他們在今生獲得幸福；為使他們在生命中得到利益並擁有無量的福德聚集；為使他們尋求種種方法；為使他們博學於一切論典；以及為使他們在種種藝術中達到圓滿，我將賜予持力，使他們不會遺忘。」
15.3“I will teach the rite of cleansing with mantras and medicines for the benefit of the dharmabhāṇaka bhikṣus and the beings who listen to the Dharma, so that harm from the planets, lunar asterisms, birth, and death; all the harms from fighting, pollution, riots, chaos, nightmares, and misleaders; and the harms from all evil spirits and vetālas will cease.
15.3「我將傳授用真言和藥物清淨的儀軌，為了利益法師比丘眾和聽聞法的眾生，使得來自於行星、月宿、生死的傷害；來自於鬥爭、污穢、暴亂、混亂、惡夢和誤導者的一切傷害；以及來自於一切惡鬼神和毘舍遮的傷害都能夠消除。」
15.4“These are the herbs and medicines through which the wise can cleanse themselves:
15.4「這些是智者可以用來淨化自己的草藥和藥物：
“Sweet flag, cow bezoar, and fenugreek,「菖蒲、牛結石和葫蘆巴，
Artemisia, acacia, and shami,艾草、金合歡，與夜間花，
Orris root and musk,鳶尾根和麝香，
Crepe ginger, cinnamon, and agarwood;薑黃、肉桂和沉香；
“Chir pine rosin and dammar gum,松脂和膠脂，
Bdellium and frankincense,沒藥和乳香，

15.9tadyathā | sute kṛte kamatali nalejanakarate haṅkarate indrajalini śaṃkaradri paśaddre avartakaseke nakutra kukavilakavimalamati śīlamati sandhidhudhumamavati śiśiri satyasthite svāhā |
“Make a circle of cow dung「用牛糞製作一個圓形
And scatter flower petals.並撒灑花瓣。
Into a gold bowl and a silver bowl.倒入金碗和銀碗。
“You should also place there你也應該在那裡放置
Four men dressed in armor,四位身穿盔甲的男子，
And place there four maidens並在那裡放置四位少女
Who are adorned and holding pots.她們都經過裝扮，手持香罐。
“Perfume the air with bdellium用沒藥熏香空中
And play the five kinds of musical instruments.並演奏五種樂器。
Adorn the goddess with用天女裝飾

15.14syād yathedaṃ arake nayane hile mile gile khikhile svāhā |
15.15“Engage in the peaceful activity of cleansing by reciting this mantra while washing the body of the Bhagavat:

15.16tadyathā | sugaṭe vigaṭe vigatāvati svāhā |
“May the lunar asterisms, wherever they are「願月宿，無論在何處

May they bring to an end the dreadful terrors願他們終止可怕的恐懼
Of the harms from the stars of one’s birth,出生時星辰所帶來的傷害，
The fears that arise from a multitude of actions,從眾多業行所生起的恐懼，
And the disturbances of the elements.以及元素的擾亂。
15.18tadyathā | śame viṣame svāhā | sagaṭe vigaṭe svāhā | sukhatinate svāhā | [F.233.a] sāgarasaṃbhūtāya svāhā | skandhamatāya svāhā | nīlakaṇṭhāya svāhā | aparājitavīryāya svāhā | himavatsaṃbhūtāya svāhā | animilavaktrāya svāhā | namo bhagavate brāhmaṇe | namaḥ sarasvatyai devyai sidhyantu mantrapadā daṃ brahma anumanyatu svāhā |
15.19“I will be there, because of this washing ritual, in order to guard the dharmabhāṇaka bhikṣu and those who listen to the Dharma and those who write it out.
15.19「我因為這個沐浴儀式的緣故，將會出現在那裡，以守護宣說法的法師、比丘，以及那些聽聞法和抄寫法的人。」
15.20“Together with a host of devas, I will end all illness in those villages, towns, marketplaces, and monasteries.
15.20「我將與眾多的諸天一起，消除那些村莊、城鎮、市集和寺院中的一切病苦。」
15.21“I will end harm from planetary afflictions, fighting, and pollution; harm from the stars of one’s birth; and all harm from nightmares, troublesome demons, and all evil spirits and vetālas for the bhikṣus, bhikṣuṇīs, upāsakas, and upāsikās who possess this lord of sūtras, so that their lifespans will be benefited, they will abandon saṃsāra, they will progress irreversibly to the highest, most complete enlightenment, and they will quickly attain the highest, most complete enlightenment of buddhahood.”
15.21「我將消除行星災難、爭鬥和汙染的傷害，消除生辰星宿的傷害，以及噩夢、煩惱的惡鬼和所有邪靈、毘舍遮對擁有這部經王的比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞和優婆夷所造成的傷害，使他們的壽命得到增益，他們將放棄輪迴，他們將不退轉地趨向無上正等正覺，他們將快速成就佛果的無上正等正覺。」
15.22Then the Bhagavat congratulated the great goddess Sarasvatī, saying, “Well done, well done, great goddess Sarasvatī! You act to bring benefit to many beings, and happiness to many beings. It is excellent, excellent that you have given this teaching of mantras and medicines.”
15.22薄伽梵稱讚偉大的薩囉斯瓦蒂天女，說道：「善哉，善哉，偉大的薩囉斯瓦蒂天女！你所作所為能夠利益許多眾生，使許多眾生獲得快樂。你所傳授的真言和藥物教法，實在是太好了，太好了。」
15.23The great goddess Sarasvatī bowed down to the Bhagavat’s feet and sat to one side.
15.23大天女薩囉斯瓦蒂向薄伽梵的足下頂禮，然後坐在一旁。
15.24Then the Kauṇḍinya brahmin, the Dharma master Vyākaraṇa, called upon the goddess Sarasvatī:
15.24那時婆羅門憍陳如與法師毘迦羅那一起，向薩囉斯瓦蒂天女祈請：
“Great goddess Sarasvatī,「偉大的薩囉斯瓦蒂天女，
You are worthy of offering, a great ascetic;你是堪受供養的大苦行者；
You are renowned in all worlds; [F.233.b]你在一切世界中都享有盛名；
You give the best and have great qualities;你施予最好的，具有偉大的功德；
“You have the highest attainment, are beautiful,你具有最高的成就，容貌端正美好，
And have put on a darbha grass robe—並已穿上了芻草長袍——
You are wearing darbha grass clothing,你穿著稱為札巴草的草衣，
And you stand on one leg.你單腳而立。
“All the devas have gathered,「所有諸天都聚集在一起，
And they all speak in one voice:他們都用一個聲音說：
‘Loosen your tongue and speak放鬆你的舌頭，說出來
The words that will benefit beings.’ ”利益眾生的言辭。」
15.28Sarasvatī spoke these mantra words:
15.29syād yathedaṃ mure cire avaje avajavate higule migule pigalavati maguśe marici samati daśamati agrimagri tara citara capati cicirī śirimiri marici praṇaye lokajyeṣṭhe lokapriye siddhiprite vimamukhiśucikharī apratihate apratehata buddhe namuci namuci mahādevī pratigṛhnanamaskaraṃ |
15.30“May I have unimpeded understanding. May I accomplish the knowledge of treatises, verses, tantras, piṭakas, poetry, and so on.
15.30「願我具有無礙的理解。願我成就論述、偈頌、密續、藏、詩歌等的智慧。」
15.31tadyathā | mahāprabhavā hili hili mili mili |
15.32“May I be victorious through the power of the Bhagavatī, the goddess Sarasvatī.
15.32「願我通過薄伽梵天女薩囉斯瓦蒂的力量而獲得勝利。
15.33karaṭe keyūre keyūravati hili mili hili mili hili hili |
15.34“I summon the great goddess through the truth of the Buddha, the truth of the Dharma, the truth of the Saṅgha, the truth of Indra, and the truth of Varuṇa. I invoke the great goddess through the truth and true words of all who speak truth in the world.
15.34「我以佛的真實、法的真實、僧伽的真實、帝釋的真實和水神的真實來召請偉大的天女。我以世間所有說真實語者的真實和真言來祈請偉大的天女。」
15.35tadyathā | hili hili hili mili hili mili | May I be victorious! I pay homage to the Bhagavatī, the great goddess Sarasvatī! May I accomplish the mantra words! svāhā |
15.36Then Sarasvatī said to the Kauṇḍinya brahmin, [F.234.a] “Great being, it is excellent, excellent, that you give all beings excellent eloquence, miracles, higher cognitions, great wisdom, and so on, benefiting them and causing them to quickly attain enlightenment.”
15.36薩囉斯瓦蒂對憍陳如婆羅門說：「大士，真是太殊勝了！你讓一切眾生都獲得殊勝的辯才、神變、神通、大智慧等等，這樣利益他們，使他們快速證得菩提，實在是太好了。」
15.37She then recited these verses in order to teach the rite of possessing this sūtra:
15.37她隨後依次誦讀了這些偈頌，以教導受持這部經的儀軌：
“First, whoever recites this dhāraṇī「首先，無論誰誦持這個陀羅尼
Should pay homage to the Three Jewels.應當禮敬三寶。
Then, by repeating it without error,然後，通過無錯誤地反覆誦持，
They will attain excellent accomplishments.他們將會獲得殊勝的成就。
“Pay homage to the buddhas,敬禮諸佛，
The Dharma, the bodhisattvas,法、菩薩們，
The pratyekabuddhas, the śrāvakas,辟支佛與聲聞眾，
And to Brahmā, Śakra, and the Four Mahārājas,以及梵天、釋天和四大天王，
“And imagine that you reverently serve「而且想像你恭敬地服侍
Those who continually practice celibacy.那些不斷修行梵行的人。
“In a place that is peaceful and solitary,「在一個寧靜而偏遠的地方，
Recite audibly the dhāraṇīs and praises,要大聲誦念陀羅尼和讚歎文，
And set out a vast offering並擺設廣大的供養
To all the buddhas, devas, and nāgas.向諸佛、諸天和龍禮敬。
“Develop a motivation of compassion「培養大悲的發心
Toward the many classes of beings.對著眾多類別的眾生。
Contemplate with a one-pointed mind用一心專注地思惟觀察
The Bhagavat’s golden color and his signs.薄伽梵的金色身體和他的相好。
“Contemplate well the words and meaning「好好思惟語言和義理
Given specifically for individual capacities根據個別根器而特別開示
Through the Dharma, the supreme speech of the Bhagavat,透過薄伽梵的法，這至高的言語，
And accomplish and remain in emptiness.並成就空，安住於空。
“If you contemplate with a one-pointed mind「如果你以一心專注地觀想
The direct presence of all the bhagavats,所有薄伽梵的直接現前，
Then you will obtain samādhi,那麼你將獲得三昧，
Wisdom, and the sublime dhāraṇī.智慧和尊勝的陀羅尼。
“The Dharma speech from the glorious throat of the Bhagavat,「薄伽梵那光榮喉嚨中發出的法語，
That sublime voice, guides his followers.那尊勝的聲音，引導他的追隨者。
His tongue covers the trichiliocosm他的舌頭覆蓋三千大千世界
And manifests various, individual wonders.並且彰顯各種不同的奇異之事。
“If you continually contemplate that excellent,「如果你不斷思惟那殊勝的、
Supreme speech, you will attain fearlessness.殊勝的言語，你將獲得無畏。
This inconceivable sign of his tongue這不可思議的舌相標誌
Was attained through the power of vast prayers.是由廣大願力所成就的。
“Just as space has no impediment,「就如同虛空沒有障礙，
He teaches that phenomena are nonexistent.他教導說法是不存在的。
Contemplate the speech of the feature that is the Buddha’s tongue,觀想佛的舌頭這個特徵的言說，
And countless prayers will be fulfilled. [F.234.b]無數的願望將會成就。
“If someone makes offerings to Sarasvatī「如果有人對薩囉斯瓦蒂作供養
Or has a student who, according to instructions,或者有弟子，按照教導，
In accord with scripture, practices the Dharma,按照經典，修習法。
They will obtain the most perfect honors.他們將獲得最圓滿的榮譽。
“Someone who practices for supreme wisdom「某人為了至上智慧而修行
And single-mindedly possesses this Dharma並且一心持有這個法
Will increase the accumulations of wisdom and merit將增長智慧和福德的累積
And have definite accomplishment; do not doubt it!並將得到確定的成就；不要懷疑這一點！
“Those who practice for wealth will have wealth,「那些為了財富而修行的人，將會獲得財富，」
And gain and fame will likewise be accomplished.利養和名聞也同樣會成就。
Those who wish for deliverance will be liberated.想要獲得解脫的人，必定會獲得解脫。
This will definitely be accomplished; do not doubt it!這必定會成就；不要懷疑！
“Also numerous, countless good qualities「同樣地，無數的善功德
Will be accomplished, as wished for.將按照所願而成就。
Someone who maintains this practice correctly有人正確地維持這個修行
Will definitely accomplish them; do not doubt it!必定能夠成就，不要懷疑！
“Wear clean clothes in a solitary place,在一個寂靜之處穿著清潔的衣服，
And in a maṇḍala of whatever size you can make在你能夠製作的任何大小的壇城中
Place four vases that are extensive.放置四個廣大的瓶子。
At that time, offer flowers and incense.那時，獻上花朵和香。
“Beautify it with flags, parasols, and streamers,用旗幡、傘蓋和彩帶來裝飾它，
And adorn it extensively with ointments and powders.並用香膏和粉末廣泛莊嚴它。
Make offerings to the buddhas and Sarasvatī,向諸佛和薩囉斯瓦蒂供養。
And if you wish to see that deity, you will see her.如果你想要見到那位本尊，你就會見到她。
“In front of the goddess Sarasvatī「在薩囉斯瓦蒂天女的面前
Recite and repeat this for three weeks.誦念並重複這個三週。
If you still have not seen that deity,如果你仍然還沒有見到那位本尊，
Repeat with a stable mind for nine more days.用穩定的意念再重複誦持九天。
“If she has not been seen in those nights,「如果在那些夜晚還是沒有看到她，
Seek another auspicious place.尋求另一個吉祥的地方。
Draw a correct image of the goddess畫出天女的正確形象
And continuously offer, repeat, and recite.並不斷地供養、誦持和背誦。
“Day and night make a continuous effort「日夜不斷努力
For an immeasurable benefit to yourself and others.為了獲得對自己和他人無量的利益。
Its result will be bestowed on others其果報將獲得給予他人。
And your wishes will be accomplished.你的願望就會得以實現。
“If in that way your wishes have not been accomplished,「如果用那樣的方式，你的願望仍然沒有實現，
Then for three months, or for six months, or nine,那麼在三個月、或六個月、或九個月內，
Or with diligent mantra repetition for a year,或者通過一年中精進地念誦真言，
You will attain the six higher cognitions, and so on.”你會獲得六神通等。
15.58The Kauṇḍinya brahmin, on hearing that teaching, felt immeasurable joy and delight, and he said to that gathered assembly:
15.58憍陳如婆羅門聽到這個教法後，感到無量的喜悅和歡喜，他對聚集在一起的大眾說：
“This entire assembly of devas, humans, and others, [F.235.a]"這整個諸天、人及其他眾生的集會啊，
Listen to me with undistracted minds.請你們用不散亂的心來聽我誦讀。
I will recite these verses我將誦說這些偈頌
Based upon relative truth,基於世俗諦，
In order to praise the supreme goddess Sarasvatī.為了讚頌殊勝的天女薩囉斯瓦蒂。
“I pay homage to the goddess with great power,「我頂禮具有大力的天女，」
Who has attained power over this world realm.誰已經在這個世界獲得了力量。
I am going to praise you because我要讚頌你，因為
This has been taught by the ṛṣis of the past.這是過去的仙人眾所教導的。
“Your glorious mind possesses bliss and learning您榮耀的意具足福樂與智慧
And it is renowned for its beauty.並且它因其美麗而聞名。
You are also the mother who gave birth to this world你也是生育這個世界的母親。
And continuously acts with great diligence in glory.並且持續以偉大的精進在光榮中行動。
“You are always victorious on the battleground.「你在戰場上總是勝利的。」
Through subjugation you give rise to compassion and patience,通過制伏而生起大悲和忍辱，
You manifest the body of Yama’s sister,你顯現了閻魔之妹的身體，
And you always wear clothes of blue silk.你常常穿著青色絲綢的衣服。
“You manifest both beauty and ugliness.「你顯現美麗和醜陋兩種形象。
Whoever sees your eyes will have trust in you.誰看到你的眼睛，就會對你產生信心。
Your immeasurable activity transcends the world.你那無量的事業超越了世間。
Whoever comes to you for refuge, you take care of them.凡是來向你求取庇護的人，你都會照顧他們。
“Sometimes you dwell on mountains and rocks,「有時你住在山嶺和岩石上，
Sometimes in caves or on riverbanks,有時在山洞或河岸邊，
Or also within forests of trees—或者也在樹木森林裡——
Those places are the dwellings of the goddess.那些地方是天女的住所。
“If you continually make offerings to the goddess,「如果你們不斷地向天女供養，
Just as the humans in the borderlands do,就像邊遠地區的人所做的一樣，
Who make parasols from peacock feathers,用孔雀羽毛製作傘蓋的人，
Then she will protect the world at all times.那麼她將時時刻刻保護世界。
“She is encircled by tigers and lions;「她被老虎和獅子所環繞；
Birds and cattle also depend on her.鳥類和牲畜也依靠她。
When the sound of her great bell resounds當她的大鐘聲迴盪時
It is heard even on the Vindhya mountains.在文迪耶山脈上也能聽見。
“In her hands she holds a trident,「她的手中握著三叉戟，
Or she holds the sun and moon as her standard.或者她以日月作為旗幡。
On the eleventh day of the waning moon,在月圓缺的第十一天，
Or on the ninth, make offerings to her.或者在初九那天，向她供養。
“Because she looks upon the entire world,"因為她觀視整個世界，
When a battle is being waged, through her kindness,當戰爭正在進行時，通過她的慈悲，
She manifests as the goddess Vasu.她示現為婆蘇天女。
She is a supreme goddess beyond analogy.她是一位無可比擬的至高天女。
“She manifests the form of the gopi Rādhā,「她示現牧女羅陀的身形，

She dwells happily for a long time in the world,她在世間安樂地住了很久。

“She is skilled in the four Dharmas that are taught"她精通所教授的四種法

“Also, when she gathers together goddesses,「又當她匯聚諸天女時，

She is chief among all the assemblies of many yakṣas, nāgas,她是眾多藥叉、龍的各個集會中的首領。
And so on, and she has the power to guide them.並且能夠引導他們。

Or like a boat or ship on a river.或像河上的舟船。

She is a support for scholars.她是學者的依靠。
Her eloquence is as elevated as a mountain peak她的言辭如山峰般高遠崇高。
And she reveals a continent of contemplation.她呈現了一個靜慮的洲域。
“The devas, such as the asuras and so on,諸天、阿修羅等眾，
All praise and extol her qualities.所有天人和阿修羅眾都讚頌和稱揚她的功德。
Even thousand-eyed Śakra, the king of devas,即使是擁有千隻眼睛的釋天，諸天之王，
Gazes on her face with veneration.以禮敬之心凝視她的面容。
“Whatever it is that beings wish for,「無論眾生祈求什麼，
She quickly fulfills all those wishes.她迅速滿足所有那些願望。
She has a swift mind, retains what she hears,她擁有敏捷的意，記住所聽聞的一切，
And is supreme over all on this great earth.在這個偉大的地上，超越了一切。
“She is always like a great illuminating lamp.她總是如同一盞偉大的照明燈。
In the world realms within the ten directions在十方的世界中
She even fulfills all the wishes of all她甚至圓滿了一切眾生的所有願望。
Birds, carnivores, and herbivores.鳥類、肉食動物和草食動物。
“She is like a mountain peak among females;她在女性中如同山峰一般；
Like the ṛṣis of the past, she remains for a long time;她如同過去的仙人眾一樣，長久以來保持不變；
Like a young goddess, she is free of desire,她如同年輕的天女一般，遠離貪著。
And she speaks the truth like the Lord of Sahā.她像娑婆的主宰一樣說真實語。
“You manifest a body that accords with the world.「你顯現出一個適應世間的身體。
You are the chief among goddesses.你是天女中的首領。
Even in the paradises of the desire realm,即使在欲界的天界中，
There is no being that is greater.沒有比她更偉大的眾生。
“She will save from the dangers她將拯救免於危險
Of battles and dangerous places,戰鬥和危險地方，
From falling into a pit of fire,使她遠離火坑的墮落，
And from rivers, crevasses, and savages.以及免於河流、裂隙和野蠻人的危害。
“Those who are bound in punishment by kings「那些被國王束縛在懲罰中的人
Or are being killed by an enemy,或被敵人所殺害，

Moreover, if they possess, keep, read, and recite this extremely subtle and profound Sublime Golden Light, the king that is the lord of sūtras, then all their aspirations will be quickly accomplished, unless this is done with a distracted mind.”
