Chapter 7: A Praise Using the Analogy of a Lotus
第七章：蓮花比喻讚頌
7.1Then the Bhagavat said to the virtuous goddess who is the goddess of the Bodhi tree, “Now know this, Goddess Śrī, you should listen well and remember this praise of the buddhas and purification through regret that came as a loud sound from a golden drum that was seen in the bodhisattva’s dream at night.
7.1薄伽梵於是對菩提樹神這位善妙的女神說：「吉祥天女，現在你要知道這一點。你要好好聽著，要記住這個讚美諸佛的話語和通過懺悔而得到的淨化，這些話是在菩薩夜間的夢裡從一面金鼓發出的大音聲傳來的。
7.2“In the past, there was a king by the name of Lord of Golden Nāgas, who always praised and extolled the buddhas in the ten directions and three times as being like a red lotus.”

7.3He then recited these verses of praise to the multitude:

“ ‘Those jinas who have appeared in the past,
「過去曾經出現的那些勝者，
And the jinas present in the ten directions,
以及現在十方的勝者，
I pay homage to all those jinas

And I praise all those jinas.
我讚歎所有那些勝者。
“ ‘A lord of munis is peaceful, totally peaceful, and pure.
「一位牟尼的主宰是寧靜的、完全寧靜的，而且清淨。
His body shines with a golden color.

A buddha’s voice is the most melodious of all voices,
佛的音聲是一切音聲中最悅耳的。
Speech that resounds like the voice of Brahmā.

“ ‘He has hair like a bee, a peacock, and ink,

With blue curls, like the blue jaybird.

His teeth are as white as snow or a conch

And always shining as if adorned by gold.

“ ‘His eyes are blue, wide, and perfectly stainless;

They are like blue lotuses in blossom.

His broad, excellent tongue is the color of a red lotus—
他寬廣、殊勝的舌頭是紅蓮花的顏色—
It is like a lotus, a shining lotus blossom.
它像蓮花一樣，一朵發光地的蓮花盛開。
“ ‘Between the eyebrows, the ūrṇā hair is the color of a conch or lotus root.

It curls to the right and is the color of a white beryl.

It is like a crescent moon, a sliver of the moon.
它如同一彎新月，月亮的纖細光芒。
The protector Muni’s body shines like a carpenter bee.

“ ‘His face has a bright and prominent nose
「他的面容擁有明亮而高聳的鼻子
That is smooth, excellent, and like a golden staff— [F.73.a]
那是光滑、優美的，就像一根金色的手杖——
A perfect, sublime, noble, supreme nose,
完美、殊勝、高貴、至高無上的鼻子，
The always smooth nose of all the jinas.
一切勝者的常光滑之鼻。
“ ‘From each and every pore there

Rises a hair that curls to the right,
從每個毛孔生起一根向右捲曲的毛髮，
Growing as a dark blue curl,
長出深藍色的卷髮，
Blue and adorning, like a peacock’s neck.
藍色光彩，莊嚴得如同孔雀的頸部。
“ ‘As soon as he was born, his body shone,
「他一旦出生，身體就散發光芒，
Filling all worlds in the ten directions with light,
光芒充滿十方的一切世界，
Ending the endless sufferings in the three worlds,
終結三界中無盡的苦難，
And satisfying beings with every happiness.
並使眾生得到一切的快樂。
“ ‘He created an accumulation of all happiness
「他創造了一切快樂的積聚
For the beings in the hells, the animals,
對於地獄中的眾生，以及畜生，
The pretas, devas, and human beings,
餓鬼、諸天和人類，
And brought to an end all lower existences.
並且終結了所有的下劣存在。
“ ‘His excellent color is beautiful like gold;

His body resembles purified gold.

The Sugata’s face is like a stainless moon;
善逝的面容如同離垢地的月亮；
It is a beautiful and stainless face.

“ ‘His smooth body has limbs that are like a youth’s.

He walks and strides like a supreme lion.

His powerful arms hang down very long

Like vines on a sal tree moved by the breeze.

“ ‘He shines light rays as a fathom-wide aura;
他發出光芒，形成一丈寬的光暈；
He is as bright as a thousand suns.
他如同千個太陽一樣耀眼光明。
The stainless body of the lord of munis
牟尼之主的離垢地身體
Illuminates all of the infinite realms.
照亮了所有無盡的境界。
“ ‘He is shining with light, like the moon
「他發出光芒，如同月亮
In endless hundreds of thousands of realms.
在無盡的數百千個佛國。
All of their lights cease to be because
所有的光芒都因此而消失了。
They are brightly illuminated by the Buddha.
它們被佛發出的光明照亮了。
“ ‘The sun of the Buddha is the lamp of the world.
「佛的太陽是世界的燈光。
The Buddha’s sun is like a hundred thousand suns,
佛的太陽猶如百千個太陽，
And within hundreds of thousands of realms
在數百千個世界之內
Beings can see the sun of the Tathāgata.
眾生能夠看到如來的太陽。
“ ‘His body is formed from a hundred thousand merits.
「他的身體是由百千功德所成就的。
His body is adorned by all good qualities.
他的身體由一切善法所莊嚴。
The Jina’s arms are like the trunk of an elephant king.
勝者的雙臂如象王的象鼻。
His supreme hands and feet are stainless and shining. [F.73.b]
他至高無上的雙手雙足離垢而發光。
“ ‘The buddhas who have been are as numerous as particles,
「過去的諸佛如同微塵一樣眾多，
As numerous as the dust on the surface of the earth;
如同遍佈大地表面的塵埃那樣眾多；
Those who will appear, who are as numerous as the smallest particles,
將來出現的佛，數量如微塵般眾多，
And those who are present, who are as numerous as the smallest particles,
以及現在的諸勝者，數量如最細微的微粒，
“ ‘To those jinas I pay homage
「我向那些勝者禮敬
In pure faith, with body and speech,
以清淨的信心，用身體和言語，
Offering flowers and offering perfumes
獻花與獻香
With a hundred colors and a virtuous mind.
以百種色彩和清淨的心意。
“ ‘I could not describe those qualities of the jinas
「我無法描述那些勝者的品質
In a thousand eons with a hundred tongues.
用一千劫、一百種舌頭都無法描述。
The virtues that the jinas have perfected
勝者所圓滿的種種功德
Are a numerous variety of supreme essences.
是無數種殊勝的本質。
“ ‘With a thousand tongues I could not describe
「用千般舌頭我也無法描述
Even a little of the qualities of a single jina,
即便是單一勝者的少許功德，
Let alone the qualities of all the jinas.
更何況所有勝者的功德。
For just a single quality there would be a vast teaching.
即使是單一的特質，也會有廣大的教法。
“ ‘If the world and its paradises became an ocean
「如果世界和它的天堂都變成了海洋
And up to the summit of existence became filled with water,
直到存在的頂峰都充滿了水，
It would be possible to measure that with the tip of a hair,
用一根頭髮的尖端就可以量度那個。
But one could not measure a single quality of the sugatas.
但無法測量善逝的哪怕一個品質。
“ ‘Whatever supreme results of merit I have accumulated
「我所累積的一切最殊勝的功德果報
Through all my teaching, praises, and offerings
通過我所有的教法、讚頌和供養
With faith, and with my body, speech, and mind,
我以信心，以我的身、語、意，
Through that may beings attain buddhahood.’
藉此願一切眾生成就佛果。
“The king thus praised the Buddha,
「國王就這樣讚頌了佛，」
And then the king made this prayer:
然後國王發了這樣的願：
‘Wherever I am reborn,
無論我投生到哪裡，
Throughout endless future eons,
在無盡的未來劫中，
“ ‘May I see a dream of such a drum;
「願我見到這樣一個鼓的夢；
There, may I hear this kind of confession;
在那裡，願我能聽聞這樣的懺悔；
And may I obtain in those hundreds of lifetimes
願我在那些數百個生命中獲得
A praise of the jinas like this Source of Lotuses.
像蓮華源這樣的勝者的讚頌。
“ ‘May I hear in a dream of those
「願我在夢中聽聞那些
Infinite, unequaled qualities of the buddhas,
諸佛無量無比的功德，
Which are rare even in a thousand eons,
這在一千劫中都極其罕見，
And then teach them in the day.
然後在白天為他們講授。
“ ‘May I free beings from the ocean of suffering.
「願我將眾生從苦海中解脫。
May I complete the six perfections
願我圓滿六度波羅蜜
And afterward attain the highest enlightenment,
然後成就最高的菩提。
And may I attain a realm without equal.
願我證得無與倫比的佛土。
“ ‘Through the ripened result of offering a drum,
「透過供養鼓的成熟果報，
And through the cause that is praising the jinas, [F.74.a]
並且通過讚頌勝者這個因緣，
May I directly see the Śākya lord of munis,
願我直接見到釋迦牟尼勝者。
And may I attain there the prophecy of my buddhahood.
願我在那裡獲得我成佛的授記。
“ ‘May these who are my two sons—
「願我這兩個兒子——
Kanakendra and Kanakaprabhāsvara —
金邊和金光——
May these two youths also attain there
願這兩位年輕人也在那裡成就
The prophecy of their highest enlightenment.
這兩位少年也能得到最高菩提的授記。
“ ‘May those beings who have no savior or defender,
「願那些沒有救度者或保護者的眾生，
Who are without a protector and are suffering,
沒有保護者而正在遭受苦的眾生，
Throughout all future eons
在一切未來的劫中
Have saviors, defenders, and protectors.
獲得救護者、守護者和保護者。
“ ‘May the sources of all suffering come to an end,
「願一切苦的根源都得到終止，
And may there be the sources of all happiness.
願一切快樂的根源得以產生。
May I have the conduct of enlightenment in future eons,
願我在未來的劫中擁有菩提的行。
Which are as numerous as the eons of the past.
如同過去無數的劫一樣眾多。
“ ‘Through The Sublime Golden Light confession,
「透過金光明經的懺悔，
May my ocean of bad actions dry up,
願我的惡業之海乾涸，
May I be purified of my ocean of karma,
願我的業海得到淨化，
[And may my ocean of kleśas cease to exist.]
願我的煩惱之海消滅不復存在。
“ ‘May my ocean of merit become complete.
願我的功德海圓滿。
May my ocean of wisdom be pure.
願我的智慧之海得以清淨。
Through the power of the light of stainless wisdom,
通過離垢地智慧光芒的力量，
May there be an ocean of all qualities.
願一切功德之海圓滿具足。
“ ‘May the precious qualities of enlightenment be complete.
願菩提的珍貴功德圓滿成就。
May I attain the radiance of merit through
願我通過功德的光輝而成就
The power of The Sublime Golden Light confession.
金光明懺悔的力。
May I attain this pure enlightenment.
願我成就此純淨的菩提。
“ ‘Through the sublime light of stainless wisdom,
透過離垢地智慧的妙光，
May I obtain the light from my body.
願我得到身體放出的光。
Through the light of my merit being bright,
通過我的功德之光明亮照耀，
May I become the lord of all three worlds.
願我成為三界的主宰。
“ ‘May I always have the power of merit.
「願我常具功德力。
May I be liberated from the ocean of suffering
願我從苦的大海中得到解脫
And practice enlightened conduct in future eons
並在未來的劫中修習圓滿的菩提行
With every ocean-like happiness.
具足一切如海之樂。
“ ‘May I, in a future time, attain [F.74.b]
「願我在未來的時候，獲得
A realm that possesses infinite qualities,
具足無量功德的剎土，
Just like the supreme realms in the three worlds
就如同三界中最殊勝的境界
That have existed throughout the past,
在過去世中一直存在的。
That possessed all the infinite qualities of the jinas.’
具備勝者的一切無量功德。
“Goddess Śrī, you should know
「吉祥天女，你應當了知
That King Lord of Golden Nāgas,
那位金龍王，
Who experienced giving rise to this prayer,
誰曾因為生起這個願而獲得了體驗，
Has now taken birth as you.
如今已經投生為你。
“Those two sons in that past time,
「那兩個兒子在過去的時代，
Kanakendra and Kanakaprabhāsvara,
金邊和金光，
Are now Rūpyaketu and Rūpyaprabha,
現在就是銀幢和銀光。
And they have received their prophecy from me.”
他們已經從我這裡得到了授記。
7.40All that gathered multitude, on hearing that teaching, developed the enlightenment mind and said that now and in the future they would practice this purity through regret and make the prayer.
7.40所有聚集在一起的大眾，聽到這個教法之後，都發起了菩提心，並且說他們現在和未來都要通過懺悔來修習這種清淨，並發起願。
All developed the aspiration to enlightenment.
眾人都發起了菩提心。
“May we now and in all future times
「願我們現在和未來的一切時間裡
Always make this confession!”
永遠都要進行這樣的懺悔！
