Chapter 21: King Susaṃbhava
第21章：善聚王
21.1Then the Bhagavat, having taught the treatise on kingship within that great assembly, [F.123.a] said, “You and all others, listen well, for I will teach you the past causes and conditions for the true practice of the Dharma.”
21.1薄伽梵在那個大法會中傳授了關於王道的論述之後，說道：「你們以及所有人，要好好聽著，我將為你們講述過去修習法的真實因緣。」
21.2He then recited these verses:
21.2他於是誦出這些偈頌：
“When in the past I was a cakravartin king,
「往昔我作轉輪王時，
I gave away the great earth with its oceans.
我將擁有大海的廣大地球全都布施出去。
I offered all the four continents
我奉獻了全部四大洲
Filled with jewels to the tathāgatas.
充滿寶物獻給如來。
“Throughout countless eons, all of them,
「在無數的劫中，全都如此，
Because I sought the pure, true Dharma body,
因為我追求清淨、真實的法身，
My cherished wealth and even my own body and life
我珍愛的財富，甚至我自己的身體和生命
I gave away, with a mind that was without miserliness.
我都將它們捨棄，心中沒有慳貪。
“Moreover, an inconceivable number of eons ago,
「而且，在無法計量的許多劫之前，
There was Ratnaśikhin, who had true wisdom.
有一位寶髻佛，具有真實的智慧。
After that tathāgata had passed into nirvāṇa,
那尊如來進入涅槃之後，
A king named Susaṃbhava appeared in the world.
一位名叫善聚王的國王出現在世間。
“He became a cakravartin and subjugated the four continents.
他成為轉輪王，征服了四大洲。
He became the protector of all as far as the oceans.
他成為了一切眾生直至大海邊界的保護者。
The name of his city was Sublime Sounds.
他的城市名稱叫做妙音城。
At the time when the cakravartin king was dwelling there,
那時轉輪王住在那裡，
“He heard the merit and wisdom of the Buddha in a dream,
「他在夢中聽聞了佛的功德和智慧，
And he saw the dharmabhāṇaka named Built of Jewels,
他看見了名叫寶積的法師，
As beautiful as the disk of the sun, seated on a throne
美麗如太陽圓盤，坐在王座上
And teaching The Sūtra of the Sublime Golden Light.
在宣說金光明經。
“When the king awoke from his dream,
「當國王從夢中醒來時，
He felt great joy that spread through his entire body,
他感到極大的喜悅，遍佈他的整個身體。
And at dawn he came out of the royal palace
天亮時，他從王宮裡出來
And went into the presence of the bhikṣu saṅgha.
並前往比丘僧伽的面前。
“He reverently made offerings to that assembly of āryas,
他恭敬地向那些聖者的集會獻上供養，
And he asked this question of that great assembly:
他向那個大集會提出了這個問題。
‘Is there a dharmabhāṇaka by the name of Built of Jewels
「是否有一位名叫寶積法師的法師
Who has a perfection of qualities and who guides beings?’
誰具有功德的波羅蜜，誰引導眾生？
“At that time, the great dharmabhāṇaka Built of Jewels
「那時，大法師寶積法師
Was staying in perfect solitude in a dwelling,
住在完全寂靜的住處中。
Maintaining mindfulness and teaching this sūtra,
保持念力教導這部經。
Honest and sincere, in physical and mental bliss.
誠實善良，身心安樂。
“At that time, a bhikṣu led the way and the king
那時，一位比丘帶路，國王
Came to the dwelling of Built of Jewels. [F.123.b]
來到寶積法師的住處。
He saw him inside the dwelling, sitting upright,
他看見他在住所內，正坐著，
His body permeated by light and perfect signs.
他的身體遍滿光明和圓滿的相好。
“The bhikṣu told the king, ‘This is Built of Jewels,
「比丘對國王說：『這是寶積法師，
And the supreme king of the sūtras is this:
而這部經最為殊勝：
The extremely wonderful Sublime Golden Light,
極其殊勝的金光明，
Which has the profound range of activity of the buddhas.’
具有諸佛深遠的活動範圍。
“The king bowed down to Built of Jewels.
「國王向寶積法師頂禮。
With palms together in reverence, he said,
他雙手合掌恭敬地說，
‘I request you, whose face is as beautiful as the full moon,
我祈請您，您的容貌如同滿月一樣美麗，
To teach this Dharma of The Sublime Golden Light.’
來為我演說金光明經的法。
“When Built of Jewels had heard the words of the king,
「當寶積法師聽到國王的言詞時，
He gave the teaching of Sublime Golden Light.
他傳授了金光明法。
All the devas and humans throughout the entirety
整個三千大千世界的所有諸天與人類
Of the world realms of the trichiliocosm were overjoyed.
三千大千世界中的所有世界領域都歡喜雀躍。
“The king adorned with supreme wonderful jewels
「國王以至高殊妙的寶石裝飾而莊嚴
A place that was a vast and clean location,
一個寬闊清淨的地方，
And he sprinkled it with excellent scented water
並灑上芬芳的香水。
And scattered there a display of a variety of flowers.
在那裡散放了各種各樣的花卉擺設。
“In that perfect location he placed a high throne
「在那個完美的地點，他放置了一個高高的寶座
And beautified it with flags and a canopy.
並用旗幟和華蓋裝飾它。
And he perfumed everywhere with
他用香到處薰香
Various powders, ointments, and incenses.
各種粉末、膏油和香。
“Devas, nāgas, asuras, kinnaras,
「諸天、龍王、阿修羅、緊那羅，
Mahoragas, and yakṣas rained down
摩睺羅伽和夜叉紛紛降下
Divine coral tree flowers, and then they all
諸天人的珊瑚樹花朵，然後他們全部
Came to the supreme throne and made offerings to it.
來到至高的寶座前，向它獻上供養。
“Another ten thousand million devas,
「又有千萬億諸天，
Wishing to hear the Dharma, all gathered there,
希望聽聞佛法，所有人都聚集在那裡。
And when the dharmabhāṇaka first rose from his seat,
當法師初次從座位上起身時，
They all made offerings to him of divine flowers.
他們都用天花供養他。
“At that time, the dharmabhāṇaka Built of Jewels
「爾時，寶積法師
Thoroughly washed his body and put on clean robes,
徹底清洗了身體，穿上了潔淨的衣服，
And then he came before the throne in that great assembly
然後他來到那個大集會中的王座前面
And single-mindedly, with palms together, bowed to it with reverence.
並且一心一意地，雙掌合十，恭敬地向它禮拜。
“The deva lords, the assembled devas, and the devīs
「諸天之主、集聚的諸天和天女們
Also all scattered coral tree flowers,
又散落了珊瑚樹的花朵，
And with countless hundreds of thousands of divine musical instruments,
並且用無數百千種天樂器，
They emitted the sound of beautiful music while residing in the sky.
他們在虛空中發出美妙的音樂聲音。
“At that time, the dharmabhāṇaka bhikṣu Built of Jewels
「那個時候，法師比丘寶積
Sat on the throne, cross-legged,
盤腿坐在法座上，
And contemplated in his mind the trillion
並在心中觀想著兆億
Lords of great love in the realms in the ten directions. [F.124.a]
十方世界中具有大慈心的眾生領主。
“Maintaining a loving mind equally toward
「平等地對一切眾生保持慈心，
All the beings there were who were in suffering,
所有那些正在經歷苦的眾生。
For the sake of the supplicant, King Susaṃbhava,
為了滿足祈求者善聚王的願望，
He taught The Sūtra of the Sublime Golden Light.
他宣說了《金光明經》。
“When the king had heard such a Dharma,
「當國王聽聞了這樣的法，
With palms together, single-mindedly he rejoiced.
雙掌合十，一心歡喜。
Hearing the wonderful Dharma, he shed tears and wept,
聽聞這妙法，他流淚哭泣，
And his body and mind were pervaded by great joy.
他的身心充滿了極大的喜悅。
“At that time, the lord of the realm, King Susaṃbhava,
「那時，國王善聚王，
Wishing to make an offering to this sūtra,
希望以此經作為供養，
Held in his hands a wish-fulfilling jewel,
手中持著如意寶珠，
And for the sake of all beings, he made this prayer:
為了一切眾生的緣故，他發出了這樣的願：
“ ‘May there fall a rain of strings of jewels
「願寶珠如雨般降落
That pervades the entirety of Jambudvīpa,
遍滿整個閻浮提，
And may everyone who is lacking in wealth and necessities
願所有缺乏財富和生活必需品的人
All attain the happiness that they wish for.’
都能獲得他們所希望的快樂。
“Then there fell a rain of the seven jewels,
「那時降下了七寶之雨，
Bringing satisfaction and contentment throughout the four continents
讓四大洲都獲得滿足和喜樂。
So that no one lacked jewelry for their bodies,
使得沒有人缺乏身上的珠寶飾物，
Or clothes, food, drink, or whatever they desired.
或是衣服、飲食、飲水，以及他們所貪求的任何東西。
“At that time, the lord of the realm, King Susaṃbhava,
「當時，國王善聚王，領主，
Saw the rain of jewels fall onto the four continents,
看到珍寶之雨降落在四大洲上，
And he offered it all to the saṅgha of bhikṣus
他把這一切都獻給了比丘的僧伽。
Who followed the teaching of the Buddha Ratnaśikhin.
曾經追隨寶髻佛的教法。
“Know that I, the Tathāgata Śākyamuni,
「要知道，我就是如來釋迦牟尼，
Was Susaṃbhava, that king in the past.
就是過去的善聚王。
In the past I have offered up many great earths
在過去我曾經獻出許多偉大的大地
And filled the four continents with jewels.
並用珍寶充滿四大洲。
“That great Dharma master in the past, Built of Jewels,
「過去那位偉大的法師寶積法師，
Who taught that wonderful Dharma to Susaṃbhava,
他曾向善聚王開示那殊妙的法。
Became the eastern buddha Akṣobhya
成為了東方的阿閦佛
Because of teaching that king of sūtras.
因為傳授那部經王的緣故。
“I have attained this supreme vajra body because of
「我因為
The merit from having listened to this king of sūtras,
聆聽這部經王所獲得的功德，
With palms together, having single-mindedly rejoiced
合掌一心歡喜
And having offered up the seven kinds of jewels.
並獻上了七種珍寶。
“It is beautified by golden light and the signs of a hundred merits.
「它被金光明和百種功德的相好所莊嚴。
It brings supreme joy to everyone who sees it. [F.124.b]
它為每一個見到它的人帶來無上的喜。
It is beloved by everyone, by all beings,
它為一切眾生所鍾愛。
And also by all the many millions of devas.
以及所有的眾多百萬諸天。
“Also, in the past, I became a cakravartin king
「而且在過去，我成為了一位轉輪王
For nine hundred and ninety million eons,
在九百九十萬劫中，
And have been the king of smaller kingdoms.
而且曾經是較小王國的國王。
Moreover, for countless hundreds of thousands of eons
而且，在無數百千劫以來
“I have also been Śakras, who were the lords of the devas,
「我也曾是帝釋天，統領諸天，」
And I have been great Brahmā kings,
我也曾經做過偉大的梵天王。
And it would be difficult to know the full number of times
而且很難知道完整的次數
That I made offering to the lords of great love in the ten directions.
我向十方具有慈心的諸天之主所做的供養。
“It would be difficult to know the extent of the accumulation of merit from
「難以知道從
My good action of having in the past listened to and rejoiced in this sūtra.
我過去聽聞並歡喜這部經所獲得的善行。
It is through the power of that merit that I realized enlightenment
正是因為那份功德的力，我才證得了菩提。
And attained the sublime true wisdom of the Dharma body.”
並且證得了法身的最高真實智慧。
21.35Then that great assembly, having heard the words of that teaching, greatly marveled at it, and they all aspired to continuously promulgate and practice The Sūtra of the Sublime Golden Light.
21.35那時大眾聽聞這些教法的言語，都感到非常驚嘆，並且都發心要持續地弘揚和修習金光明經。
21.36This concludes “King Susaṃbhava,” the twenty-first chapter of “The Supremely Victorious King of Sūtras, the Sublime Golden Light.”
21.36（結尾）
