Controlling Prāṇa
控制氣
22.1The lord then said:
22.1主人隨後說:
“Prāṇa is in the heart, apāna in the anus,
「氣在心臟,下行氣在肛門,」
Samāna in the navel area,
平行氣在臍部區域,
Udāna in the area of the throat,
上行氣在咽喉區域。
And vyāna in the entire body.
遍行氣則遍佈全身。
“The most important among them is
「其中最重要的是
The prāṇa, located in the heart.
氣位於心臟。
Through the cycle of breathing in and out,
通過呼吸的循環往復,
It sustains the life of all beings.
它維持著一切眾生的生命。
“With the system of sixteen saṃkrānti,
「以十六種轉變的系統,
Each breath is one daṇḍa in duration.
每一次呼吸的持續時間為一刻。
With the passing of the four maṇḍalas,
隨著四個壇城的流轉而過。
There are 21,600 breaths.
有二萬一千六百次呼吸。
“Breathing through the right nostril—
「從右鼻孔呼吸——
This is called the maṇḍala of fire.
這稱為火的壇城。
Breathing through the left nostril—
從左鼻孔呼吸——
This is called the maṇḍala of wind.
這稱為風的壇城。
“Breathing, equally, through the left and right nostrils—
「同時通過左右鼻孔呼吸——
This is the maṇḍala of the earth.
這就是大地的壇城。
That same one, flowing gently,
那同一個,柔和地流動,
Is the maṇḍala of water.
是水的壇城。
“Lalanā is the left channel;
左脈是左邊的通道;
Rasanā is positioned on the right.
右脈位於右方。
Avadhūtī is in the central area—
中脈在中央區域—
It conducts prāṇa in the moment of innate joy.
它在先天喜樂的時刻傳導氣。
“Creation takes place during the surge of energy after inhalation,

Concordant with the motionless nature of the resting breath;
與靜止呼吸的不動本性相符。
Destruction takes place when the air has been exhaled.

This continues for as long as one is alive.

“When the air enters, this is known as kumbhaka;

When it is retained, this is called pūraka.

When it is exhaled, this is known as recaka;

When there is no movement, this is stambhaka. [F.340.b]

“One should take Caṇḍamahāroṣaṇa for the object of one’s absorption

And begin the practice with a consort.

One should keep track of air as it enters

By counting breaths up to one hundred thousand or more.
通過數息至十萬次或更多。
“One will succeed at that very moment,

As Lord Buddha has explained.

He who counts the air by its unit,

While tightly embracing the wisdom,

“Will succeed within a fortnight,

In the form of Caṇḍamahāroṣaṇa.
以大忿怒的形相。
Endowed with divine knowledge,
具足神通,
He will acquire the five superknowledges.
他將獲得五種神通。
“Remaining in the absorption of Caṇḍamahāroṣaṇa
「安住於大忿怒的三摩地中
And embracing one’s consort tightly,
緊密擁抱自己的明妃,
One should press at her heart with one’s heart,
應該用自己的心臟緊貼她的心臟。
And unite one’s secret part with her secret part.
並將自己的秘密處與她的秘密處相合。
“Uniting the two mouths,
"兩口相合,
Without thoughts and wholly devoted to bliss,
沒有念頭,完全投入於喜樂之中,
One should visualize the moon
應該觀想月
Together with the sun, in one’s heart.
與日一起在自己的心中。
“Through the force of stability in that alone,
「通過在那唯一對象上的穩定力量,」
A person will become omniscient.

“Merely through bringing on the state of stillness,

One will know the past, the future, and the present,

And also the thoughts of others.

I am telling the truth.

“Similarly, through the same method,

One should cultivate the stillness inside the ears.

One will be able to hear sounds from every place,

As if they were nearby.

“Just so, having empowered the eyes,

Similarly, by focusing on the nose,

One will be able to perceive all smells.

One will perceive distant tastes;

One’s mind with prāṇa

And arrests it there, at that very place

“Pacifying, enriching, and enthralling;

Likewise summoning, killing,

And expelling—anything at all

Will one accomplish through meditation alone.

“One should combine the practice of kumbhaka and so forth

With the four gazes:

Leftward gaze combined with kumbhaka

Should effect enthralling.
應該產生迷住的效果。
“Rightward gaze, known as one that pulls in,
「向右凝視,被稱為吸納之視,
Should be combined with pūraka.
應當配合吸氣。
A gaze that rests on the forehead—
一種落在額頭上的眼光——
The killing one—should be combined with recaka. [F.341.a]
殺戮之凝視——應與呼氣相結合。
“A gaze that rests on the tip of the nose—
「凝视鼻尖的目光——
One that drives the enemies away—is combined with stambhaka.
驅趕敵人的目光——與屏息相結合。
When doing kumbhaka, one gazes at a distant flower;
進行時舍時,注視遠處的花朵;
When doing pūraka, one gazes at a bush of common milk hedge.
進行吸氣時,凝視普通牛奶樹籬的灌木叢。
“When doing recaka, one gazes at a resinous tree;
進行呼氣時,目光注視著含樹脂的樹木;
When doing stambhaka, one gazes at swaying grass.
修行屏息時,應凝視搖晃的青草。
One should allow six months for this practice of each
應該為這個修行的每一個階段預留六個月的時間。
In combination with the respective previously described gaze.
結合各自之前所述的凝視。
“Possessed of all abilities, one will be successful
具備所有的能力,就會獲得成功
If one can arrest the movements of the mind.
如果能夠制止心的運動。
By arresting the mind, prāṇa is arrested;
通過攝住心,氣就被攝住;
And by arresting the prāṇa,
而且通過控制氣,
“The mind will become arrested,
心會被控制住,
For their movements are reciprocally related

In the single union of wisdom and means ,
在智慧與方便的單一合一中,
Which is the meeting of the vajra and the lotus.
這是金剛杵與蓮花的相會。
“Through enjoying the pleasure with one’s mind arrested,

One will succeed—a master over suffering.
就能成就──成為苦難的主人。
The buddhas, Vajrasattva and so forth,
諸佛陀金剛薩埵等,
Become helpers of such a mantra adept.
成為這樣的咒語修行者的幫助者。
“What need then to mention worldly gods,
「那麼何必提及世俗諸神,
The celebrated Śiva and so forth.
著名的濕婆等等。
The lord, the Acala of Reality,
現實界的主宰,不動金剛,
Is well concealed by me in all the tantras.
我在所有的續中都隱密地保護著他。
“Those who have honored him
那些恭敬他的人
Have become buddhas, equal to the sky.
成為了佛陀,平等如空。
Those of great magical powers
具有大神通力的人們
Will be as numerous as the grains of sand in the Ganges.
將如恆河沙粒一樣眾多。
“This even goes for the buddhas of the present time
「這甚至適用於現在時代的佛陀
Endowed with buddha knowledge.
具足佛陀智慧。
Therefore a yogin should always
因此,一位瑜伽士應當時常
Meditate regularly on Lord Acala.
應當經常觀想不動尊主。
“He who does not know Acala
不知道不動者
Will have a fruitless life.
將有一個無果的人生。
For without him, no success,
沒有他,就無法獲得成功。
Not even a small one, can be achieved.”
即使是最微小的成就,也無法獲得。
22.33Thus concludes the chapter on prāṇa practices, twenty-second in the glorious Caṇḍamahāroṣaṇa tantra called “The Sole Hero.”
