Ten Benefits

十種利益

29.1“Young man, there are ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas from maintaining patience and being kind. [F.89.b] What are these ten? They are: [1] they are not burned by fire; [2] they are not slain by weapons; [3] they are not affected by poison; [4] they do not drown in water; [5] the devas protect them; [6] they attain a body adorned by the primary signs of a great being; [7] all the doorways to their rebirth in lower existences are closed; [8] it is not difficult for them to be reborn in the paradise of Brahmā; [9] they are happy day and night; and [10] their physical sensations of comfort and pleasure are never lost.

29.1「年輕人,菩薩摩訶薩因為保持忍和善良有十種利益。[F.89.b]這十種是什麼呢?它們是:[1]他們不被火燒傷;[2]他們不被武器殺害;[3]他們不受毒物影響;[4]他們不會在水中溺水;[5]天神保護他們;[6]他們獲得具有偉大生命相好的身體;[7]所有通向較低存在中輪迴的入口都被關閉;[8]他們容易被轉生到梵天的淨土;[9]他們日夜安樂;[10]他們舒適和快樂的身體受受永不失去。

29.2“Young man, those are the ten benefits for the bodhisattva mahāsattvas from maintaining patience and being kind.”

29.2「善男子,菩薩摩訶薩修持忍辱與慈悲心,就能獲得這十種利益。」

“They are not burned by fire,
他們不被火焚燒,
They are not killed by weapons,
他們不會被武器所傷害,
They are not affected by poison,
他們不受毒藥傷害,
They do not drown in water, {1}
他們不會在水中溺水,{1}
“They are protected by devas,
「他們受到天神的保護,
They have the thirty-two primary signs,
他們具有三十二相好,
And the lower existences are closed to them.
而且低等的有趣對他們關閉了。
Those are the benefits of patience. {2}
這就是忍的好處。{2}
“The state of Brahmā and the state of Śakra
「梵天的境界和帝釋天的境界
Are not difficult for them to attain.
他們不難獲得。
They always dwell in happiness
他們始終安住在幸福中
And have inconceivable pleasure. {3}
而且享有不可思議的快樂。{3}
“They are not slain by fire or weapons;
他們不會被火焰或武器所傷害;
They are not killed by poison or drowning.
他們不會被毒藥或溺水所傷害。
They are protected by devas, nāgas, and yakṣas.
他們受到天神、龍和夜叉的保護。
Those are the benefits of maintaining kindness. {4}
這些是保持慈心的利益。{4}
“Their bodies will have the thirty-two primary signs.
「他們的身體將具備三十二相。
They will not fall into the lower existences,
他們不會墮入惡趣。
And at death they will be reborn in the realm of Brahmā.
他們在死時將會重生於梵天界。
Those are the benefits of maintaining patience. {5}
這些是修持忍的利益。{5}
“They have happiness day and night.
他們日夜都有快樂。
Their bodies will have pleasurable sensations.
他們的身體將具有快樂的受。
They will have the power of patience and bliss.
他們將擁有忍的力量和安樂。
Those wise ones will always have a tranquil mind. {6}
那些智慧的人將總是擁有寧靜的心。

29.9“Young man, there are ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas from taking up diligence. What are the ten benefits? They are: [1] it is difficult to approach their level; [2] they attain the state of being cared for by the buddhas; [3] they will be cared for by the devas; [4] they maintain the Dharma they have received; [5] they obtain the Dharma they have not previously received; [6] they attain the lineage of samādhis; [7] they have few illnesses; [8] they digest their food well; [9] they are like lotuses; and [10] they are not like pestles.

29.9「善男子,菩薩摩訶薩由於發起精進有十種利益。何為十種利益?分別是:[1]他們的境界難以企及;[2]他們獲得諸佛陀的護持;[3]他們受到天神的照顧;[4]他們守護已經領受的法;[5]他們獲得以前未曾領受的法;[6]他們證得三摩地的傳承;[7]他們很少患病;[8]他們消化食物健康良好;[9]他們如蓮花一樣;[10]他們不像杵一樣。

29.10“Young man, those are the ten benefits for the bodhisattva mahāsattvas from taking up diligence.”

29.10「年輕人,這就是菩薩摩訶薩從精進中獲得的十種利益。」

關於這個主題,曾經說過:

“It is difficult to approach their level.
難以接近他們的境界。
They are without idleness.
他們沒有懶散。
The devas protect them.
天神保護他們。
They quickly see the buddhas. {7}
他們迅速看到佛陀。{7}
“Their prayers are fulfilled,
他們的願望得以實現,
They attain the lineage of samādhis,
他們獲得三摩地的傳承,
And they do not become ill. [F.90.a]
他們不會生病。
Those are the benefits of diligence. {8–9}
這些是精進的利益。{8–9}
“They digest pleasurably, without harm,
他們消化順利,沒有傷害,
That which they eat and drink. {10}
他們所食用和飲用的東西。{10}
They gradually develop
他們逐漸培養
Like a blue lotus in the middle of water.
如同水中盛開的藍蓮花。
“In that way the bodhisattvas
「以此方式,菩薩
Develop through good qualities. {11}
透過善法而增長。{11}
The days and the nights
日日夜夜
Pass fruitfully for them.
對他們而言時光流逝得很有成果。
“The Tathāgata who has engaged in diligence,
「已經精進修行的如來,
Gaining accomplishments for numerous eons,
經過無數劫而獲得成就,
Has taught to the bodhisattvas
已為菩薩們所開示
These benefits of possessing diligence. {12}
精進的這些利益。
“Those who engage in diligence
「那些勤修精進的人們
Are in the care of the jinas.
受到勝者的庇護。
The devas, too, make aspirations for them.
天神也會為他們發願心。
They will soon attain the Buddha’s enlightenment. {13}
他們很快就會證得佛陀的菩提。{13}
“What they have learned will never diminish,
「他們所學習的法義將永遠不會減損,
And they give many other Dharma teachings.
他們給予許多其他的法教。
Their confidence of speech increases immensely.
他們的言語信心大幅增長。
Those are the benefits of engaging in diligence. {14}
這些是精進修行的利益。{14}
“They will quickly attain the lineage of samādhis.
他們將迅速證得三摩地的傳承。
They will never become ill.
他們將永遠不會生病。
Whatever food they eat
無論他們吃什麼食物
They will comfortably digest completely. {15}
他們將會舒適地完全消化。{15}
“Day and night the good qualities
「日夜善法的精進增長。
Of their powerful diligence increase.
他們強大的精進不斷增長。
Through the power of this diligence,
透過這精進的力量,
Before long they will attain enlightenment. {16}
不久他們就會證得菩提。{16}

29.20“Young man, there are ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas from being devoted to meditation. What are the ten benefits? They are: [1] they maintain their bodhisattva conduct; [2] they engage in the field of that conduct; [3] they live free from anguish; [4] their sensory faculties are protected; [5] they experience pleasure; [6] they are separated from desire; [7] they have insatiability for meditation; [8] they are free from the domain of Māra ; [9] they are established in the domain of the Buddha; and [10] they ripen the state of liberation.

29.20「善男子,菩薩摩訶薩專心禪修有十種利益。這十種利益是什麼呢?它們是:[1]他們保持菩薩行;[2]他們從事於那種行的領域;[3]他們遠離痛苦而生活;[4]他們的感官能力得到保護;[5]他們體驗快樂;[6]他們遠離欲望;[7]他們對禪修有不厭足的心;[8]他們遠離魔的領域;[9]他們建立在佛陀的領域中;以及[10]他們成就解脫的境界。」

29.21“Young man, those are the ten benefits for the bodhisattva mahāsattvas from being devoted to meditation.”

29.21「年輕人,這就是菩薩摩訶薩專注禪修所得到的十種利益。」

關於這個主題,曾這樣說過:

“They are never without bodhisattva conduct,
「他們從不離棄菩薩行,
As they are established in bodhisattva conduct.
因為他們安住在菩薩行中。
The yogins practice the field of that conduct,
瑜伽士修習那個行的境界,
And reject that which is not the field of that conduct. {17}
並拒絕非那菩薩行的領域。{17}
“They live without anguish.
他們無苦而住。
Their senses hidden and bound,
他們的感官被隱藏和約束,
They experience pleasure. [F.90.b]
他們體驗到快樂。
Their field of conduct is practicing meditation. {18}
他們的行的領域是禪修實踐。{18}
“They are without desire, or the craving of desire.
他們沒有欲望,也沒有貪欲的渴求。
They abide in the bliss of meditation.
他們安住在禪修的喜樂中。
They are free from the domain of Māra
他們解脫了魔的領域
And dwell in the Buddha’s domain. {19}
住於佛陀的國土。{19}
“This is the particular quality of the yogins:
「這是瑜伽士的特殊品質:
That they delight in being alone in the forest.
他們喜歡獨自在林中歡喜。
They bring liberation to fruition.
他們將解脫帶至圓滿。
Those are the ten aspects. {20}
這些就是十個方面。{20}
“The bodhisattvas remain in bodhisattva conduct
菩薩安住於菩薩行
And they reject everything that is not that conduct.
他們捨棄不屬於那種行的一切。
They reject that which is not the field of that conduct and remain in that which is.
菩薩捨棄不屬於那個行的領域,安住於屬於那個行的領域。
Those are the benefits of endeavoring in samādhi. {21}
這些是在三摩地中精進的利益。{21}
“They never experience anguish.
他們永遠不會經歷痛苦。
They reach the state of higher bliss.
他們到達更高的樂境。
Both their body and mind become blissful.
他們的身心都變得安樂。
These are the benefits of endeavoring in meditation. {22}
這些是精進於禪修的利益。{22}
“They live secretly in solitary places.
他們住在隱密的獨處之處。
They never have any distractions.
他們從未有任何散亂。
Thus their bodies are in isolation
因此他們的身體處於隔離中
And they attain happiness free of desires. {23}
他們獲得沒有欲望的快樂。{23}
“They are unstained by desires and have no kleśas.
他們不為欲所染污,沒有煩惱。
Thus they are free from the domain of Māra
因此他們遠離魔的領域
And are established in the domain of the tathāgatas.
並且安住在如來的境界中。
They bring their liberation to fruition. {24}
他們使自己的解脫得以圓滿成就。{24}

29.30“Young man, there are ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas from engaging in wisdom. What are these ten? They are: [1] they give away all their possessions without becoming proud that they are pure; [2] they have immaculate, correct conduct without forming an attachment to that conduct; [3] they maintain the power of patience without maintaining the conceptualization that there are beings; [4] they take up diligence in isolation from body and mind; [5] in meditating they meditate with a non-abiding meditation; [6] they are invincible to the māras; [7] they are unshakable to all adversaries; [8] they attain illumination regarding all engagement with the composite; [9] they engage in vast great compassion for all beings, and have no aspiration for the level of the śrāvakas or pratyekabuddhas; [F.91.a] and [10] they enter into the dhyānas, samādhis, and samāpattis of the buddhas.

29.30「少年人,菩薩摩訶薩從事智慧有十種利益。這十種是什麼呢?它們是:[1]他們施捨自己的一切財物而不生起自己清淨的驕傲;[2]他們具足無瑕的正行而不對該正行形成執著;[3]他們保持忍的力量而不保持有生命存在的概念;[4]他們在身心隔離中進行精進;[5]在禪修中他們以無所住的禪修而禪修;[6]他們對魔是無法戰勝的;[7]他們對所有對手是不可撼動的;[8]他們對所有有為的相應獲得照明;[9]他們對所有生命進行廣大的大悲相應,並對聲聞或辟支佛的層級沒有願心;[10]他們進入佛陀的禪定、三摩地和等至。

29.31“Young man, those are the ten benefits for the bodhisattva mahāsattvas from engaging in wisdom.”

29.31「善男子,這就是菩薩摩訶薩從事智慧而獲得的十種利益。」

“The heroic ones give away all their possessions
「那些英勇的人捨棄一切所有物」
But do not become proud that they are pure.
但不要因為它們清淨就變得驕傲。
They keep their correct conduct immaculate
他們保持正行的清淨無垢
But they form no attachment to that. {25}
但他們對此不執著。{25}
“The wise ones meditate on patience
智慧的人們思維忍。
But have expelled the conceptualization of beings.
但已經斷除了對生命的戲論。
They are those who engage in diligence
他們是那些修持精進的人
But in isolation from body and mind. {26}
但卻遠離身體和心。{26}
“They are those who cultivate meditation,
他們就是那些修習禪修的人,
But without abiding and independent;
但沒有安住且獨立。
They are invincible to the māras.
他們是魔無法戰勝的。
Those are the qualities of those who have wisdom. {27}
這些是具有慧的人的特質。{27}
“They are unshakable
他們堅不可摧
To every adversary
對每個對手
And have obtained the illumination of saṃsāra.
並已獲得輪迴的光明。
Those are the qualities of wisdom. {28}
那些就是慧的品質。{28}
“They have attained great compassion
他們已經成就了大悲
Toward all beings.
對所有生命。
They never have an aspiration
他們永遠沒有願心
For the wisdom of the śrāvaka or pratyekabuddha. {29}
聲聞或辟支佛的慧。{29}
“They are not proud of being pure through giving away all their possessions.
「他們不為因捨棄一切所有而清淨而自豪。
They have immaculate correct conduct but have no attachment to conduct.
他們具有清淨的正行,但對於行沒有執著。
They meditate on patience but have no conceptualization of beings.
他們修習忍,但對生命沒有戲論。
Those are the benefits of being devoted to wisdom. {30}

“They engage in diligence but in isolation.

They meditate without being bound, without fixation.
他們修習禪定,不受束縛,沒有執著。
They are wise and are invincible to Māra .
他們聰慧且無法被魔所征服。
Those are the benefits of being devoted to wisdom. {31}
這些是對慧的虔誠奉行所帶來的利益。{31}
“They are unshakable to adversaries.
他們對敵人堅不可摧。
They have discovered the shallowness of the composite,
他們已經發現了有為的虛淺本質。
And they have vast compassion for beings.
他們對眾生具有廣大的慈悲。
Those are the benefits of being devoted to wisdom. {32}
這些就是專心於慧的福利。{32}
“They never give rise to an aspiration to be
他們從不生起以下的願心:
A pratyekabuddha or śrāvaka,
辟支佛或聲聞,
And thus they are established in the qualities of a buddha.
他們就這樣安住在佛陀的功德中。
Those are the benefits of being devoted to wisdom. {33}
這些就是修持慧的利益。{33}

29.41“Young man, there are ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas from becoming very learned. What are the ten benefits? They are: [1] they do not create kleśas; [2] they do not develop malice; [F.91.b] [3] they expose doubts; [4] they make views accurate; [5] they shun the wrong paths; [6] they are established on the true path; [7] they have reached the doorway to deathlessness; [8] they are close to enlightenment; [9] they are a light for beings; and [10] they have no fear of the lower existences.

29.41「年輕人,菩薩摩訶薩從廣學多聞有十種利益。是哪十種利益呢?它們是:[1]他們不製造煩惱;[2]他們不產生瞋恚;[3]他們揭露疑惑;[4]他們使見解正確;[5]他們遠離邪道;[6]他們安住在正道上;[7]他們已經到達不死的門戶;[8]他們接近菩提;[9]他們是眾生的光明;[10]他們對下三界沒有恐懼。

29.42“Young man, those are the ten benefits for the bodhisattva mahāsattvas from becoming very learned.”

29.42「年輕人,這就是菩薩摩訶薩透過變得極其博學而獲得的十種利益。」

關於此主題,曾說過:

“These are taught to be the ten benefits
「這些被教導為十種利益
From becoming very learned
從變得極其博學
Just as they are known
正如他們所知道的
By the Tathāgata, the Buddha. {34}
由如來、佛陀。{34}
“They know the two aspects
「他們了知兩個方面
Of the kleśas and of purification.
煩惱和淨化的兩個方面。
They reject the kleśas
他們拒絕煩惱
And follow the path of purification. {35}
並追隨淨化之道。{35}
“The wise ones reject doubts
「聰慧的人捨棄疑惑
And develop accurate views.
並發展正確的見解。
They shun the wrong path
他們迴避錯誤的道路
And follow the correct path. {36}
並遵循正確的道路。{36}
“They are at the door to deathlessness
「他們已經來到無死的門前
And they are close to enlightenment.
他們接近菩提。
They are a light for beings
他們是生命的光明
And they are not afraid of the lower existences. {37}
他們不害怕下劣的有。{37}
“They know the numerous properties of having the kleśas,
他們知道擁有煩惱的眾多特性,
And in the same way they know the aspect of purification.
同樣地,他們也知道淨化的面向。
They completely reject the kleśas
他們完全捨棄煩惱
And train in the supreme quality of purification. {38}
並修習淨化的殊勝品質。{38}
“They expose the doubts of all beings.
他們揭露一切生命的疑惑。
They have a view that is always accurate.
他們具有始終準確的見解。
They shun the wrong path
他們遠離了錯誤的道路
And are always upon the true path of peace. {39}
永遠走在和平的真實道路上。{39}
“They are always beside the doorway to deathlessness;
他們始終靠近不死的門檻;
They are always close to stainless enlightenment.
他們總是接近無污的菩提。
They have become a light to all the multitudes of beings
他們已成為所有眾生的光明
And they have no fear of the lower existences. {40}
他們對於低劣的生命形式沒有恐懼。{40}

29.50“Young man, for bodhisattva mahāsattvas who are intent on giving the Dharma, there are ten benefits that come from giving the Dharma. What are the ten benefits? They are: [1] they reject that which should not be done; [2] they engage in that which should be done; [3] they follow the Dharma of a worthy person; [4] they purify buddha realms; [5] they reach the Bodhimaṇḍa; [6] they give away material things; [7] they overcome the kleśas; [F.92.a] [8] they give their portion to all beings; [9] they meditate on love toward those on whom their minds are focused; and [10] they attain happiness in this life.

29.50「年輕人啊,菩薩摩訶薩如果致力於傳法,就會獲得十種傳法的利益。這十種利益是什麼呢?它們是:[1] 他們拒絕不應該做的事;[2] 他們致力於應該做的事;[3] 他們遵循善人之法;[4] 他們淨化佛剎;[5] 他們到達菩提道場;[6] 他們布施物質;[7] 他們克服煩惱;[8] 他們將自己的份額給予所有眾生;[9] 他們對所有心念所注的人修習慈悲;以及 [10] 他們在今生獲得幸福。

29.51“Young man, for bodhisattva mahāsattvas who are intent on giving the Dharma, those are the ten benefits that come from giving the Dharma.”

29.51「年輕人,對於致力於傳授法的菩薩摩訶薩來說,這些就是傳授法所獲得的十種利益。」

關於這個話題,曾經說過:

“Those who give the supreme gift,
「那些奉獻最高妙禮物的人,」
The gift of the Dharma, are not misers.
施法的禮物,不是吝嗇者。
The Lord of the World has taught
世界之主已經教導
That they will have ten benefits. {41}
他們將獲得十種利益。{41}
“They reject all that should not be done;
「他們拒絕所有不應該做的事;
The wise ones engage in what should be done.
智慧者從事應當做的事情。
They obtain the Dharma of a worthy person
他們獲得值得尊敬的人的法
And maintain a motivation of generosity. {42}
並保持佈施的發心。{42}
“They purify a buddha realm.
他們淨化佛陀的界。
Their realm is inconceivable.
他們的界是不可思議的。
They are always on the Bodhimaṇḍa,
他們始終處於菩提道場,
Which is the result of giving the Dharma. {43}
這是布施法的結果。{43}
“They give away all material things.
他們舍棄一切物質的東西。
They follow the king of the Dharma.
他們追隨法王。
For those who have overcome the kleśas,
對於那些已經克服了煩惱的人來說,
Enlightenment is not hard to attain. {44}
菩提不難得。
“With a loving mind they give
「他們以慈悲的心去施捨」
Their portion to all beings.
將他們的份額分享給所有生命。
They are those who have no envy,
他們是那些沒有嫉妒心的人,
And they have a happiness higher than that of humans. {45}
他們擁有比人類更高層次的快樂。{45}
“They are learned people who reject what should not be done.
「他們是有智慧的人,拒絕不應該做的事。」
They are wise people who are always doing what should be done.
他們是智慧的人,總是在做應該做的事。
They always follow the Dharma of great beings.
他們總是遵循偉大生命的法。
They are learned people who always give the gift of the Dharma. {46}
他們是常常施予法財的有學之人。{46}
“Their realm is one that is always pure.
他們的界總是清淨的。
They increase those qualities that are aspects of enlightenment.
他們增長那些屬於覺支的品質。
They are always close to the Bodhimaṇḍa.
他們總是親近菩提道場。
Those are the benefits of giving the Dharma. {47}
這些就是布施法的利益。{47}
“They have no kleśas, and give material things away.
他們沒有煩惱,並且佈施物質財富。
They know the characteristics of things.
他們了知諸法的特徵。
They are liberated from all attachment.
他們從所有執著中得到解脫。
They never have any impediments. {48}
他們永遠沒有任何障礙。{48}
“They have a wise one’s mind.
他們具有智者的心。
They wish for all beings to be happy.
他們希望一切生命都能得到幸福。
They have loving minds free of envy,
他們擁有充滿愛心、遠離嫉妒的心。
And in this life their happiness is not little. {49}
在這一生中,他們的快樂並不少。

29.61“Young man, there are ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas who dwell in emptiness. What are the ten benefits? They are: [1] they dwell in the dwelling of the Buddha; [F.92.b] [2] their meditation is nondwelling; [3] they are not intent on rebirth; [4] they have no clinging to conduct; [5] they do not criticize superior beings; [6] they live in an appropriate manner; [7] they do not conceptualize the objects of perception; [8] they remain detached; [9] they do not disparage the buddhas; and [10] they possess the Dharma.

29.61「年輕人啊,住於空的菩薩摩訶薩有十種利益。這十種利益是什麼呢?它們是:[1] 他們住於佛陀的住處;[2] 他們的禪修是無所住的;[3] 他們不執著於輪迴;[4] 他們對行沒有執取;[5] 他們不貶低殊勝的生命;[6] 他們以恰當的方式生活;[7] 他們不執著於知覺對象的概念;[8] 他們保持超脫;[9] 他們不輕視佛陀;[10] 他們具有法。

29.62“Young man, those are the ten benefits for bodhisattva mahāsattvas who dwell in emptiness.”

29.62「年輕人,這就是安住於空的菩薩摩訶薩的十種利益。」

對於這個主題,曾經說過:

“The yogins dwell in that which is
「瑜伽士們住在那個
The dwelling of the lords of men
人中之尊的居住之所
And the field of activity of all the buddhas,
並且是所有佛陀的活動領域,
Without the conception of a life. {50}
沒有生命的概念。
“Without dependence on any existence
不依賴任何有
They never give up the superior dhyāna.
他們永遠不放棄殊勝的禪定。
Having seen the nature of phenomena
已經看見了法性
They have no intention of being reborn. {51}
他們沒有再生的意願。{51}
“Those who have no clinging to conduct
「那些對行沒有執著的人
Will not be dependent on conduct.
不會依賴於行。
They do not criticize in any way

Another superior being who is without defilement. {52}

“They live in an appropriate manner

And are not known to quarrel.

The yogins do not conceptualize things

But live always detached. {53}

“They do not disparage the Buddha
他們不貶低佛陀
Even for the sake of their life.
即使是為了自己的生命也不會。
While remaining in the emptiness of phenomena
住於現象的空性之中
They are fearlessly visible in their body. {54}
他們在身體上無畏地顯現。{54}
“They teach the Dharma with veneration
他們恭敬地宣講法
For the inconceivable enlightenment of buddhahood
為了證得不可思議的佛果菩提
Of all the lords of the worlds,
在所有世界的諸位主宰中,
And they have no doubt in the Dharma of the Buddha. {55}
他們對於佛陀的法沒有疑惑。{55}
“The dwelling place of the supreme individuals,
「至高者的住處,
The level not that of the many kinds of tīrthika,
不是眾多外道的境界,
There where there is no being, soul, or person:
在沒有生命、靈魂或人的地方:
That is where the bodhisattvas dwell. {56}
那就是菩薩所住之處。{56}
“They have no dwelling whatsoever.

They are: [1] their minds are unpolluted; [2] they remain careful; [3] they keep the Buddha in mind; [4] they have faith in bodhisattva conduct; [5] they have no uncertainty concerning wisdom; [6] they have gratitude toward the buddhas; [7] they do not abandon the Dharma; [8] they maintain vows perfectly; [9] they have attained the level of self-discipline; and [10] they have the direct perception of the four discernments.

They are: [1] they have few activities; [2] they have gone far from busy crowds; [3] they have no quarrels; [4] they have no harm; [5] they do not increase defilements; [6] they do not create any cause for disputes; [7] they have perfectly peaceful conduct; [8] they maintain perfect self-restraint; [9] their minds are prepared for liberation; and [10] they quickly manifest liberation.

They are: [1] they have no desire for a reputation; [2] they have no desire for fame; [3] they have no desire for honors or gains; [4] they remain within the four noble families; [5] they have no hypocrisy or boasting; [6] they do not praise themselves; [7] they do not criticize others; [8] they engage with households without aversion or attachment; [9] they give the Dharma without expectation of a reward; and [10] the Dharma they teach while remaining in the austerity of the disciplines of mendicancy will be remembered.

29.94「年輕人,菩薩摩訶薩住於乞食行的苦行戒律中,有十種利益。這十種利益是什麼呢?它們是:[1] 他們不渴望名聲;[2] 他們不渴望名望;[3] 他們不渴望榮譽或利益;[4] 他們保持在四聖族之中;[5] 他們沒有虛偽或自誇;[6] 他們不讚歎自己;[7] 他們不批評他人;[8] 他們與施主相處時沒有厭離或執著;[9] 他們傳授法不期望回報;[10] 他們在乞食行的苦行戒律中所傳授的法會被記住。」

29.102“Young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas who dwell in solitude while maintaining those qualities of the Dharma will obtain the treasure of the buddhas, they will obtain the treasure of the Dharma, they will obtain the treasure of wisdom, and they will obtain the treasure of knowing the past, the future, and the present.

29.102「年輕人,菩薩摩訶薩住在獨處中,同時保持那些法的品質,將獲得佛寶藏、將獲得法寶藏、將獲得智寶藏,以及將獲得了知過去、未來和現在的寶藏。

29.103“Young man, how do bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of the buddhas? Young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas who practice alone, who dwell in solitude, will attain the five higher cognitions. What are the five higher cognitions? They are divine sight, divine hearing, the knowledge of others’ minds, remembering past lives, and possessing miraculous powers. Young man, those are the five higher cognitions that are obtained. Through divine vision, which transcends human vision, the countless, innumerable buddha bhagavāns in the eastern direction are seen. In the same way the countless, innumerable buddha bhagavāns in the southern, western, and northern directions are seen. They constantly have this vision of the buddhas. Young man, in that way the bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of the buddhas.

29.103「少年啊,菩薩摩訶薩如何獲得佛寶藏呢?少年啊,獨自修行、住於獨處的菩薩摩訶薩將證得五通。什麼是五通呢?它們是天眼通、天耳通、他心通、宿命通和神變。少年啊,那些就是所獲得的五通。通過超越人類視覺的天眼通,能夠看見東方無數無量的佛陀薄伽梵。同樣地,南方、西方和北方無數無量的佛陀薄伽梵也能被看見。菩薩摩訶薩們不斷地擁有這樣的佛陀視象。少年啊,菩薩摩訶薩們就是以這種方式獲得佛寶藏的。」

29.104“Young man, how do bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of the Dharma? The bodhisattva mahāsattvas hear with their divine hearing the Dharma that is taught by those buddha bhagavāns in the ten directions. They are constantly hearing the Dharma. Young man, in that way the bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of the Dharma.

29.104「少年,菩薩摩訶薩如何獲得法寶藏?菩薩摩訶薩以天耳通聽聞十方那些佛陀所宣說的法。他們不斷地聽聞法。少年,菩薩摩訶薩就是這樣獲得法寶藏的。

29.105“Young man, how do the bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of wisdom? Young man, the bodhisattva mahāsattvas who have that wisdom obtain the entire Dharma. They do not forget anything that they have obtained, and teach the Dharma to beings, [F.95.a] knowing what will be beneficial for any one person. Young man, in that way bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of wisdom.

29.105「少年,菩薩摩訶薩如何獲得智慧寶藏?少年,具有智慧的菩薩摩訶薩獲得全部的法。他們不會忘記所獲得的任何東西,並根據對個人有益的內容向眾生教導法。少年,菩薩摩訶薩就是這樣獲得智慧寶藏的。」

29.106“Young man, how do bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of knowing the past, the future, and the present? Through the higher cognitions they gain the knowledge of the minds and conduct of all beings in the past, the future, and the present. Young man, in that way bodhisattva mahāsattvas obtain the treasure of knowing the past, the future, and the present.

29.106「年輕人,菩薩摩訶薩如何獲得了知過去、未來和現在的寶藏?透過神通,他們獲得了對所有過去、未來和現在的生命心念和行為的了知。年輕人,菩薩摩訶薩就是以這樣的方式獲得了知過去、未來和現在的寶藏。」

29.107“Young man, in brief, bodhisattva mahāsattvas who maintain the qualities of the Dharma in that way will obtain the entire Dharma of the buddhas. This level is not reached by śrāvakas or pratyekabuddhas, let alone any adversary of the Dharma.”
