The Teaching of the Samādhi
三摩地的教導
13.1Then the Bhagavān said to the youth Candraprabha, “Therefore, young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas who wish for this samādhi, and wish to attain quickly the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood, should be skilled in teaching this samādhi.
13.1薄伽梵對月光青年說:"因此,年輕人,那些想要獲得這個三摩地、想要迅速成就無上正等菩提、獲得圓滿佛果的菩薩摩訶薩,應當善於教導這個三摩地。
13.2“Young man, what is the teaching of this samādhi? It is the true nature of all phenomena; it is equality; it is the absence of inequality; it is devoid of notions; it is devoid of concepts; it is devoid of creation; it is devoid of arising; it is devoid of production; it is devoid of cessation; it is the termination of notions, concepts, and assumptions; it is devoid of an object for the mind; it is devoid of a focus of the mind; it is the termination of designations; it is the termination of concepts from analysis; it is the termination of desire, anger, and ignorance; it is without a limited or limitless focus of the mind; it is the termination of any focus of the mind; it is the knowledge of the nature of the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas; it is the state of accomplishing the field of activity that is the performance of the conduct of mindfulness, understanding, comprehension, conscience, and stability; it is the level of freedom from corruptions; it is the level of peace; it is the termination of all conceptual elaboration; it is the training of all bodhisattvas; it is the field of activity of all tathāgatas; [F.45.a] and it is the perfection of all good qualities.
13.2「少年,此三摩地的教法是什麼呢?它是一切現象的真性;它是平等;它是不存在不平等;它沒有概念;它沒有觀念;它沒有造作;它沒有生起;它沒有產生;它沒有滅絕;它是對概念、觀念和假設的終止;它沒有心的對象;它沒有心的焦點;它是名言的終止;它是分析觀念的終止;它是對欲、瞋恨和無明的終止;它沒有有限或無限的心的焦點;它是任何心的焦點的終止;它是對蘊、界和處的本性的認識;它是成就念、理解、領悟、慚愧和穩定之行為的活動領域的狀態;它是遠離煩惱的層級;它是寂靜的層級;它是所有概念分別的終止;它是所有菩薩的訓練;它是所有如來的活動領域;它是所有善法的波羅蜜。
13.3“Young man, that is what the teaching of samādhi is said to be. Bodhisattva mahāsattvas who are established in this teaching of samādhi become inseparable from samādhi—their minds become free of delusion, they become endowed with great compassion, and they accomplish the benefit of countless beings.”
13.3「青年,這就是所謂的三摩地之教導。建立於三摩地之教導中的菩薩摩訶薩,與三摩地不可分離——他們的心遠離妄執,具足大悲,成就無數眾生的利益。」
Thereupon the Bhagavān spoke these verses:
“The level of unequaled samādhi「無等的三摩地之境界
Is peaceful, subtle, and difficult to see.是寂靜的,微妙的,難以見到的。
All conceptions have been eliminated.一切概念都已消除。
Therefore it is called samādhi. {1}因此,它被稱為三摩地。
“There are no notions, there are no concepts,「沒有念想,沒有概念,
There is nothing to be grasped, there is nothing to be shown,沒有任何東西可以被執取,沒有任何東西可以被示現。
And there is no object for the mind.心沒有所緣對象。
Therefore it is called samādhi. {2}因此它被稱為三摩地。{2}
“When in a state of meditation「當處於禪修的狀態時
There is no pride concerning any phenomenon.對於任何現象都沒有驕慢。
That very absence of pride—那種無我慢——
That is what is called samādhi. {3}這就是所謂的三摩地。{3}
“There does not exist even an atom of phenomena.「諸法中不存在哪怕一個微塵。
That which is called ‘an atom’ does not exist.所謂的「微塵」是不存在的。
There are no phenomena as objects for the mind.心沒有任何現象作為對象。
Therefore it is called samādhi. {4}因此稱為三摩地。{4}
“ ‘The mind has no object’「心沒有對象」
Is also itself a concept.本身也是一個概念。
When there are no concepts of phenomena,當沒有現象的概念時,
Then that is known as samādhi. {5}那就被稱為三摩地。{5}
“A word indicates a meaning.「一個詞語表示一個意義。
That word is not a thing.那個詞語不是一個事物。
A word is like an echo,詞語就像聲音的回聲,
Like the space of the sky. {6}像虛空一樣。{6}
“These phenomena are not present;「這些現象並不存在;
There is no presence to be perceived.沒有任何存在可以被覺知。
The nonpresence is through the word ‘presence.’虛空是透過「存在」這個詞而呈現為不存在。
Its nature is that there is nothing to be found. {7}它的本質是沒有任何東西可以被發現。
“One says ‘going’ and ‘passing away,’「人們說『去』和『消逝』,
But that ‘going’ does not exist.但是那個「去」並不存在。
Through the word ‘going’ there is the absence of going.通過「去」這個詞語,體現了去的缺失。
That is given the name samādhi. {8}這就被稱為三摩地。
“Saying ‘I am not meditating’ is called pride.「說『我沒有在修三摩地』是稱為傲慢。」
‘I am meditating’ is a second kind of pride.「我在修習三摩地」是第二種傲慢。
Practicing for enlightenment without pride,不帶驕傲地修行菩提,
And attaining the absence of pride is the highest enlightenment. {9}而且證得無有自我所執即是最高的菩提。{9}
“This unequaled equality is the level of peace;「這無等的平等性是寂靜的境界;
It is śamatha and vipaśyanā, devoid of attributes.這是止和觀,遠離一切相。
Relying upon this peace, the level of buddhahood,依靠這種平靜,佛果的境界,
Is engaging in the meditation of samādhi. {10}是在進行三摩地的禪修。{10}
“It is not possible through words to enter「通過言語無法進入
Into the understanding of the meaning. [F.45.b]進入對意義的理解。
When all sounds and words are abandoned當一切聲音和言語都被捨棄時
There will be meditation without pride. {11}將會有沒有驕慢的禪修。{11}
“When there is the fire of the eon’s end in this world當這個世界中出現劫末之火時
That fire does not burn the supreme mountain in its center,那火焰不會燒毀位於中心的最高山峰。
Just like space that has never been burned in the past,就像虛空在過去從未被燃燒過一樣,
Even though the fire burns for many hundreds of eons. {12}即使火焰燃燒了數百個劫。{12}
“The bodhisattvas who remain engaged「住於此三摩地中的菩薩們
In this samādhi as it has been taught,在這個三摩地中,如同所教導的那樣,
And know that phenomena are the same as space,知道現象與虛空相同,
Will also not be burned by fire. {13}也不會被火焚燒。{13}
“If the buddha realm were burning如果佛陀的界在燃燒
And in this samādhi they prayed在這個三摩地中,他們祈禱
For the burning to completely cease,為了讓這熊熊的火焰完全熄滅,
Though the earth was destroyed it would be unchanged. {14}雖然大地被毀壞,但它保持不變。
“They will have infinite miraculous powers.「他們將具有無限的神變。

The bodhisattvas will have these qualities菩薩將具有這些品質

“Though one is born and though one dies,「雖然有生,雖然有死,
There is no birth and there is no death.沒有生也沒有死。

This samādhi will not be difficult to attain. {16}這種三摩地並不難以獲得。{16}
“The Lord of the World has taught「世界的主宰已經教導
That there is no death and there is no birth.沒有死亡,也沒有出生。
Just as the Lord of the World knew that,正如世界之主了知了那樣,
You should also know it through this samādhi. {17}你也應當通過這個三摩地而知道。{17}
“Unstained by the world,「不為世界所染,
They have no attachment to worldly phenomena.他們對世俗現象沒有執著。
With a body free of impediment身體沒有障礙
They go to the buddha realms. {18}他們前往佛剎。{18}
“They constantly see in those realms他們在那些世界中不斷地看到
The perfect buddhas, the guides of the world.完美的佛陀,世界的導師。
They listen there to the Dharma他們在那裡聽聞法
That is taught in the realms of the buddhas. {19}那在佛陀的世界中被教導。{19}
“They will never be in ignorance.「他們將永遠不會處於無明之中。
They will teach the essence of phenomena.他們將教導現象的本質。
They always know the way of phenomena,他們總是知道現象的方式,
Which is composed of the essence of phenomena. {20}它由現象的本質所構成。{20}
“Even though they teach for ten million eons,「即使他們教化十萬劫,」
Their confidence in speech will not decline.他們對言語的信心不會減退。
They emanate many other bodhisattvas他們化現出許多其他菩薩
Who have wisdom. {21}具有慧的菩薩。{21}
“The emanated bodhisattvas化現的菩薩
Travel from realm to realm.在各個界中遊行。
They are seated, cross-legged,他們盤腿而坐,
Upon lotuses that have a thousand petals. {22}坐在擁有千瓣蓮花之上。{22}
“They teach the enlightenment of buddhahood,他們教導佛果的菩提,
Wonderful dhāraṇīs and sūtras, [F.46.a]奇妙的陀羅尼和經典,
And ten million other sūtras,以及另外一千萬部經。
While meditating peacefully in samādhi. {23}在平靜地安住於三摩地的冥想中。
“They establish in irreversibility「他們安住於不退
Countless multitudes of beings,無數的生命眾生,
And teach the enlightenment of buddhahood並教導佛果的菩提
Without their confidence in speech ever declining. {24}不失對言辭的信心。{24}
“They go to a pinnacled hall他們前往一座尖頂的殿堂
That is adorned with jewels以寶裝飾
Flowers upon the guides. {25}花灑在導師身上。{25}
“They also sprinkle scented他們也撒灑香氣的
Powders upon the guides.在導師們身上撒香粉。
They all make vast offerings他們都做出廣大的供養
In order to attain enlightenment. {26}為了證得菩提。{26}
“Those countless qualities「那些無數的功德
Are the refuge of the bodhisattvas.是菩薩的依怙。
When they are free of kleśas當他們遠離煩惱時
They attain those miraculous powers. {27}他們獲得那些神變。{27}
“Because the kleśas are not created「因為煩惱沒有被造作
They are clear, pure, and bright.他們是清淨、純淨、光明的。
The field of activity of the bodhisattvas菩薩的活動範圍
Is noncomposite and inviolate. {28}是無為且不可侵犯的。{28}
“They have perfect peace, complete peace;他們具有圓滿的安寧,完全的安寧;
They have no kleśas, and they have no misery.他們沒有煩惱,也沒有痛苦。
They have no conceptualization, are free of conceptualization,他們沒有戲論,遠離戲論,
And have transcended conceptualization. {29}並且超越了戲論。{29}
“This characteristic of phenomena「這是現象的特性
Is beyond the scope of words.超出言語的範圍。
It is difficult to know through language這很難通過語言來認知
And therefore it is called samādhi. {30}因此它被稱為三摩地。
“It is unending; it is complete peace;「它是無盡的;它是圓滿的安寧;
It is effortless, and it cannot be shown.它是無功用的,也無法被顯示。
The field of activity of all the buddhas所有佛陀的活動領域
Is the completely pure summit of the truth. {31}是完全清淨的真理之巔。{31}
“The training of all the buddhas「一切佛陀的修行
Is in the nature of all phenomena.是在一切現象的本性中。
The perfect buddhas, having trained in it,圓滿的佛陀經過修習它,
Have reached the perfection of qualities. {32}已達到品質的波羅蜜。{32}
“Without any concepts of the past,「沒有過去的任何概念,
Of this side and the further side,此岸和彼岸,
In that way all those buddhas以此方式,所有那些佛陀
Have reached the perfection of qualities. {33}已達到品質的波羅蜜。
“Knowing the nature of phenomena「了知法性
As having no coming or going,作為沒有來去,
They have reached the perfection他們已經達到了波羅蜜
That is nonconceptual and effortless.” {34}那是無概念且無精進的。
