1.1Homage to all buddhas and bodhisattvas!

1.1禮敬一切諸佛菩薩！

1.2Thus did I hear at one time. The Blessed One was residing in the palace of the king of the gods in the Akaniṣṭha realm, and was teaching the Dharma to the entire assembly there.

1.2我聞如是。一時，世尊住在阿迦尼吒天諸天之王的宮殿中，正在為那裡的全體大眾宣說法。

1.3The bodhisattva mahāsattva Ākāśagarbha paid homage to the Blessed One and asked, “Blessed One, how is the mind to be viewed for a bodhisattva at the point of dying?”

1.3菩薩摩訶薩虛空藏菩薩向世尊頂禮，並請問：「世尊，菩薩在臨終時，應當如何觀察心呢？」

1.4The Blessed One replied, “Ākāśagarbha, a bodhisattva, when the time comes to die, should cultivate wisdom at the hour of death. Wisdom at the hour of death is as follows:

1.4世尊回答說：「虛空藏菩薩，菩薩到了臨終的時刻，應當修習臨終智。臨終智如下所述：

1.5“All phenomena are naturally pure. So, one should cultivate the clear understanding that there are no entities.

1.5"一切現象本性清淨。所以，應當修習清楚理解沒有實體的智慧。"

1.6“All phenomena are subsumed within the mind of enlightenment. So, one should cultivate the clear understanding of great compassion.

1.6「一切現象都包含在菩提心中。所以，應該培養對大悲的清晰理解。」

1.7“All phenomena are naturally luminous. So, one should cultivate the clear understanding of nonapprehension.

1.7「一切現象本來光明。因此，應當修習無所得的明確理解。」

1.8“All entities are impermanent. So, one should cultivate the clear understanding of nonattachment to anything whatsoever.

1.8「一切事物都是無常的。因此，應當培養對任何事物都無執著的清淨理解。」

1.9“When one realizes mind, this is wisdom. So, one should cultivate the clear understanding of not seeking the Buddha elsewhere.”

1.9「當一個人覺悟心性時，這就是智慧。因此，一個人應當培養不向他處尋求佛陀的明確理解。」

The Blessed One then spoke the following verses:

世尊隨後誦說了下列偈頌：

“Since all phenomena are naturally pure,

「既然一切現象本質上就是清淨的，

One should cultivate the clear understanding that there are no entities.

應當培養明確的理解，認識到沒有實體存在。

“Since all phenomena are connected with the enlightened mind,

「既然一切現象都與開悟的心相連，

One should cultivate the clear understanding of great compassion.

應當培養對大悲的清晰認識。

“Since all phenomena are naturally luminous,

「既然一切現象本質上都是光明的，

One should cultivate the clear understanding of nonapprehension.

應當修習無所得的清淨智慧。

“Since all entities are impermanent,

「既然一切有情皆為無常，

One should cultivate the clear understanding of nonattachment.

應當培養對無執著的清晰理解。

“Since the mind is the cause for the arising of wisdom,

「既然心念是智慧生起的原因，

Do not look for the Buddha elsewhere.”

不要到其他地方尋求佛陀。

1.15After the Blessed One had spoken, [F.153.b] the whole assembly, including the bodhisattva Ākāśagarbha and others, were overjoyed and full of praise for the Buddha’s words.

1.15世尊說完後，包括虛空藏菩薩在內的整個法會大眾都歡喜雀躍，對佛陀的教言讚不絕口。

1.16This concludes The Noble Mahāyāna Sūtra “Wisdom at the Hour of Death.”
