忍的獲得

7.1Then the Bhagavān said to the youth Candraprabha, “Therefore, young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas who wish for this samādhi, and wish to attain quickly the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood, should become skilled in the wisdoms of the three kinds of patience. They should know the first patience. They should know the second patience. They should know the third patience. They should become skilled in the differences between the three kinds of patience and skilled in the differences between the wisdoms of the three kinds of patience.

7.1薄伽梵於是對月光童子說:「因此,年輕人,那些希望得到這個三摩地,希望迅速成就無上正等菩提、圓滿佛果的菩薩摩訶薩,應當熟練掌握三種忍的智慧。他們應當了知第一種忍。他們應當了知第二種忍。他們應當了知第三種忍。他們應當熟練掌握三種忍之間的差異,以及三種忍的智慧之間的差異。

7.2“Why is that? Young man, when bodhisattva mahāsattvas become skilled in the differences between the three kinds of patience and become skilled in the differences between the wisdoms of the three kinds of patience, then at that time, young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas will quickly attain this samādhi, and will quickly attain the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood.

7.2「為什麼呢?少年人,當菩薩摩訶薩精通三種忍的差別,並精通三種忍的慧的差別時,那時候,少年人,菩薩摩訶薩就會迅速證得這個三摩地,並迅速證得無上正等正覺的佛果。」

7.3“Therefore, young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas who wish to attain the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood should learn this Dharma teaching on gaining the three kinds of patience. When they have learned it they should teach it widely to others. That will be of benefit to many beings, it will bring happiness to many beings, it will be a kindness to the world, it will bring fulfillment to a multitude of beings, and bring benefit and happiness to humans and devas.”

7.3「因此,少年啊,想要成就無上正等正覺佛果的菩薩摩訶薩,應當學習這部關於獲得三種忍的法教。學習之後,應當廣泛地為他人宣說。這樣做將利益眾多的生命,將給眾多的生命帶來快樂,將是對世界的恩惠,將使無數的生命得到圓滿,並給人類和天神帶來利益和快樂。」

7.4Then the Bhagavān taught this Dharma discourse on gaining the three kinds of patience by chanting the following verses to the youth Candraprabha.

7.4薄伽梵隨後對月光童子宣說關於獲得三種忍的法門,並誦出以下偈頌。

“Those who do not argue
「不爭訟的人
Or speak unbeneficial words
或者說出無益的言語
But always bring benefit and maintain the Dharma,
而是時時帶來利益並堅持法。
Such people are explained as having the first patience. {1} [F.20.b]
這樣的人被解釋為具有第一忍。
“Knowing that all phenomena are like illusions,
「了知一切現象如幻,
Not having a conceptual field of experience,
沒有概念的經驗領域
And not falling from the level of increasing wisdom
且不退失增長慧的境界
Are distinctive qualities of the first patience. {2}
這些是第一忍的特殊品質。{2}
“Being skilled in all the paths of the sūtras,
「精通經的所有道路,
Being wise and attracted to the Buddha’s words,
聰慧且被佛陀的言教所吸引,
And having the infinite awareness of the sugatas’ wisdom
具有善逝無邊的智慧覺悟
Are distinctive qualities of the first patience. {3}
這些是第一種忍的殊勝特質。{3}
“Whatever Dharma taught by the Buddha they hear,
「無論佛陀宣說什麼法,他們都聽聞,」
They have no doubt about the Buddha’s teachings
他們對佛陀的教法沒有懷疑
But aspire to the Dharma of all the jinas.
但是他們卻希求所有勝者的法。
These are distinctive qualities of the first patience. {4}
這些是第一忍的殊勝特質。{4}
“They know the particular sūtra with the definitive meaning,
他們知道具有究竟意義的特殊經典,
Such as the Sugata’s teaching on emptiness.
像善逝關於空的教導這樣。
They know that all the Dharmas that teach
他們了解所有教導的法
Of beings, individuals, and persons are provisional truth. {5}
眾生、個人和人格都是假諦。{5}
“In this world there are many tīrthikas,
「在這個世界中有很多外道,
But they feel no anger toward them.
但他們對他們不生瞋恨。
They are firmly established in compassion for them.

These are distinctive qualities of the first patience. {6}

“The retentions become apparent to them

And they have no doubts concerning their appearance.

What they speak is in accord with the truth.

“The four elements of air and water,

Fire and earth may change into something else,

But they will never turn away from the enlightenment of buddhahood.

“Whatever skills there are in the world,

The bodhisattvas learn them all,

And no one sees anyone higher than them.

“They are unwavering through the power of śamatha,

And through vipaśyanā they are like a mountain.

Even all beings together would be unable to disturb them.

“In meditation they stand and talk;

Remaining in meditation they walk.

In meditation they master the perfections.

“In meditation they attain the five higher knowledges.
在禪修中他們獲得五種神通。
Teaching the Dharma they go to a hundred realms.
宣說法教,他們前往百個世界。
They do not lose their miraculous powers. [F.21.a]

These are distinctive qualities of the second patience. {12}
這些是第二忍的特有功德。
“They remain in that kind of samādhi of peace.
他們安住在那種寂靜的三摩地中。
They attain certainty of the mind,
他們獲得心的確定性,
And in their meditation there is no ‘being.’
在他們的禪修中沒有「生命」。
These are distinctive qualities of the second patience. {13}

“With buddha wisdom they teach the Dharma
用佛陀的慧,他們為世界中的一切生命講說法。
To all of the beings who are in the world,
對於世界中的所有生命,
And they are able to remember all that they have taught.

These are distinctive qualities of the second patience. {14}

“They see the lords of the worlds in all directions:

East, south, west, and north,

Above, below, and in the intermediate directions.

These are distinctive qualities of the third patience. {15}
這些是第三忍的特殊特質。
“They have a body that is the color of gold

And emanate countless manifestations,
並示現無數的化身,
Teaching the Dharma to many millions of beings.
為眾多百萬的生命傳授法。
These are distinctive qualities of the third patience. {16}

“Each such bodhisattva appears throughout
"每一位這樣的菩薩遍現於整個世界,"
This buddha realm of Jambudvīpa
這個佛陀的贍部洲世界
And is renowned also among the devas and asuras.
並且在天神和阿修羅之中也享有盛名。
These are distinctive qualities of the third patience. {17}
這些是第三忍的特殊品質。
“The bodhisattvas train in accordance
「菩薩們按照進行訓練
With the field of activity of the buddhas
佛陀的活動領域
And the conduct of the sugatas.
以及善逝的行為。
These are distinctive qualities of the third patience. {18}

“If the beings that are in this world
如果這個世界中的生命
Were to recite the praises of the bodhisattvas
若要讚歎菩薩
And they were to take great joy in that
並且他們為此感到大喜。
Then they would not be trained in the Buddha’s wisdom. {19}
那麼他們就不會在佛陀的慧中得到訓練。
“If all the beings that are in this world
「如果這個世界裡所有的生命
Were to speak badly to the bodhisattvas,
對菩薩說不好的話,
And if they were to become angry toward them,
即使他們向菩薩們發怒,
Then they would still not be trained in the Buddha’s wisdom. {20}
那麼他們仍然還沒有修習佛陀的慧。{20}
“If they gain wealth it does not make them happy;
「如果他們獲得財富,也不會使他們歡喜;
If they do not gain wealth it does not make them unhappy.
如果他們沒有獲得財富,也不會感到不快樂。
Their minds always remain like a mountain.
他們的心始終如山一般堅定不動。
These are distinctive qualities of the third patience. {21}
這些是第三種忍的獨特特質。{21}
“These three patiences are taught to be the patience regarding what is spoken,
「這三種忍是說關於所說之言的忍,
The patience that is beneficial for contemplation and meditation,
對於觀察和禪修有益的忍。
And the patience, from listening to the Dharma, regarding birthlessness.
以及從聞法而來的無生忍。
These trainings are the path to enlightenment. {22}
這些修習是通往菩提的道路。
“When the bodhisattvas attain
當菩薩證得
These three unsurpassable patiences,
這三種無上的忍,
They see the supreme humans, the sugatas,
他們看到至高無上的人類,善逝。
And they give them the prophecy of their stainless enlightenment. {23} [F.21.b]
他們就給予他們無垢菩提的授記。
“When they have received that prophecy
當他們獲得那個授記時
The earth shakes in six ways,
大地以六種方式震動,
The realm is illuminated by light,
這個界被光照亮。
And millions of devas send down a rain of flowers. {24}

“When they have received that prophecy

Countless quintillions of beings
無量無邊的生命
Develop the aspiration to enlightenment,
發起求得菩提的願心,
Thinking, ‘We also shall become jinas, worthy of offerings.’ {25}
想著「我們也將成為勝者,應受供養。」{25}
“When the bodhisattvas attain
「當菩薩證得
These three unsurpassable patiences
這三種無上忍
They are not born, they do not die,
他們不生,也不死,
They do not pass away, and are not reborn. {26}
他們不會消逝,也不會再次投生。
“When the bodhisattvas attain
當菩薩證得
These three unsurpassable patiences
這三種無上的忍
They do not see beings born or dying,
他們不看生命的生與死,
But see all phenomena as remaining in the true nature. {27}
而是看到一切現象都安住在真性中。{27}
“In this way they know that they are untrue,
「就這樣他們認識到它們是不真實的,
That phenomena are like illusions, that they are naturally empty.
諸現象如幻,自然本空。
Emptiness is not born and does not die.
空不生不滅。
All these phenomena are by nature empty. {28}
這一切現象本性上都是空。{28}
“Whenever someone shows them respect,
「無論何時有人對他們恭敬,
Attending to them, honoring them, and making offerings,
侍奉他們、恭敬他們、並對他們供養,
They take no pleasure in it,
他們對此不感到歡喜。
For they know that phenomena have an empty nature. {29}
因為他們知道現象具有空性的本質。
“Toward beings who revile, threaten, or beat them,
對於那些辱罵、威脅或毆打他們的生命,
They feel no anger, nor pride.
他們不生瞋恨,也不生驕慢。
They only feel constant love for them,
他們只對這些生命感受到恆常的愛。
Wishing for those beings to be liberated. {30}
祝願那些生命能夠得到解脫。{30}
“Even when beaten and cut with sticks and stones,
「即使被木棍和石頭毆打和割傷,」
Those wise ones will feel no anger,
那些智慧的人不會感到瞋恨,
Remaining in the patience of selflessness,
安住於無我的忍中,
And not having unyielding anger or pride. {31}
而沒有堅硬不化的瞋恨和傲慢。{31}
“In this way they know the lack of reality,
「他們以此方式認識到現象的非實在性,」
That phenomena are like illusions, with an empty nature.
現象如幻,本質空無。
They remain in that knowledge of phenomena
他們安住在那種對現象的認識中
And are venerated by this world and its devas. {32}
並被此世界及其天神所尊敬。{32}
“Even toward beings holding weapons
即使對於持有武器的生命
Who cut into pieces their body and limbs,
即使那些砍斷他們身體和四肢的生命,
They would have no anger,
他們不會有瞋恨,
And their love and compassion would not diminish. {33}
他們的愛和慈悲也不會減少。{33}
“Toward such beings, while they are cutting up their body and limbs,
「對於這樣的生命,當他們在割截其身體和四肢時,
This is what arises in their mind:

‘Until I can bring these beings to enlightenment

I will not pass into the peace of nirvāṇa.’ {34} [F.22.a]

“The bodhisattvas of great renown
「那些名聞遐邇的菩薩
Continuously meditate throughout millions of eons
在數百萬劫中不斷地修習禪定
With that kind of unsurpassable power of patience,
具有這種無上的忍的力量,
Resting in the equanimity of the patience of selflessness. {35}
安住在無我忍的捨中。{35}
“For even more eons, as many as Ganges sand grains,
「即使再多的劫數,如同恆河沙那樣無數,
They do not accomplish benefit through the knowledge of a buddha.
他們無法通過佛陀的智慧成就利益。
They do not reach enlightenment,
他們不能證得菩提。
Let alone the wisdom of the tathāgatas. {36}
更何況如來的慧呢。
“Even if one were to speak for countless hundreds of eons,
「即使有人在無數百劫中持續讚歎,」
It would be difficult to conclude the praises,
讚歎之語難以窮盡,
The endless descriptions, of the greatly renowned ones
那些大名鼎鼎者的無盡描述
Who are established in the patience of selflessness. {37}
誰已經安住於無我的忍。{37}
“Therefore, the one who desires supreme, unsurpassable enlightenment,
「因此,渴望至高無上、無可超越的菩提的人,」
The accumulated wisdom of buddhahood,
佛果的積聚智慧,
Should meditate on the patience praised by the jinas,
應當觀修勝者所讚歎的忍。
And then supreme enlightenment will not be difficult to attain.” {38}
那麼至高無上的菩提就不難證得了。
