2.1Then the Bhagavān said to the youth Candraprabha, “Young man, I remember that in the past, when I was practicing the conduct of a bodhisattva, I became a cakravartin. I desired this samādhi and I desired to attain quickly the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood. For many hundred thousand quintillions of eons on this Vulture Peak Mountain I served, venerated, revered, honored, worshiped, and made offerings to many countless, innumerable tathāgatas, arhats, perfectly enlightened buddhas with the presentation of many hundred thousand quintillions of every kind of jewel, and various kinds of beautiful flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, ointments, powders, parasols, banners, flags, music, musical instruments, flags of victory, and precious monasteries.
2.1薄伽梵對青年月光說:"年輕人,我記得過去當我在修習菩薩行時,我成為了轉輪王。我渴望得到這個三摩地,並且渴望快速證得無上正等菩提的無上正等正覺。我在靈鷲峰上經歷了許多百千萬億劫,以各種百千萬億的珠寶、各種美麗的花、香、香料、花鬘、膏油、粉末、傘蓋、幢旗、旗幟、音樂、樂器、勝利幢旗和珍貴的寺院,侍奉、尊敬、恭敬、尊重、禮拜和供養了許多無數、不可勝計的如來、阿羅漢、正等正覺佛陀。"
2.2“Young man, I heard from those tathāgatas extensively the samādhi, the revealed equality of the nature of all phenomena. I obtained it, asked questions about it, preserved it, recited it to others, promoted it, meditated on it with an unadulterated meditation, promulgated it, and made it widely known to others.
2.2「年輕人,我從那些如來那裡廣泛地聽聞了這個三摩地——現象本性的顯示等性。我得到了它,對它提出了疑問,保存了它,向他人誦述它,推廣了它,用純淨無雜的禪修對它進行了禪修,闡揚了它,並將它廣泛地傳知給他人。」
2.3“Young man, the last of all those tathāgatas was the Tathāgata, the arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Śālendrarāja. [F.8.a] Young man, that Tathāgata Śālendrarāja had a saṅgha of a thousand trillion śrāvakas and bodhisattvas. Their lifespans were seven million, six hundred thousand years. I served and made offerings to the Tathāgata, the arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Śālendrarāja for a hundred and eighty thousand million years and I built ten million monasteries made of sandalwood and precious materials. The Tathāgata, the arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Śālendrarāja’s lifespan was seven hundred and sixty thousand million years. I entered homelessness in the presence of the Tathāgata, the arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Śālendrarāja and for a hundred and forty thousand million years I listened to the samādhi, the revealed equality of the nature of all phenomena. I obtained it, asked questions about it, preserved it, recited it to others, promoted it, meditated on it with an unadulterated meditation, promulgated it, and made it widely known to others.”
2.3「年輕人,那些如來中最後的一位是如來、阿羅漢、正等正覺者山海慧自在王佛。年輕人,山海慧自在王佛有一個由一千兆位聲聞和菩薩組成的僧伽。他們的壽命是七百萬六十萬年。我向如來、阿羅漢、正等正覺者山海慧自在王佛供養和服侍了一百八十萬億年,並建造了一千萬座用檀香和珍貴材料建造的寺院。如來、阿羅漢、正等正覺者山海慧自在王佛的壽命是七百六十萬億年。我在如來、阿羅漢、正等正覺者山海慧自在王佛面前出家,在一百四十萬億年間學習了三摩地——所有現象本性的顯現平等性。我獲得了它,對它提出問題,保留了它,向他人朗誦它,推廣了它,以不摻雜的禪修來冥想它,傳揚了它,並將它廣泛地傳播給他人。」
2.4Then the Bhagavān said to the youth Candraprabha, “Young man, if in that way you wish for this samādhi and wish to attain quickly the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood, then you too should dedicate yourself to making offerings to, serving, and being an attendant to all tathāgatas as I have done.
2.4那時薄伽梵對月光童子說:「善男子,如果你也想要獲得這個三摩地,並且想要迅速證得無上正等正覺的佛果,那麼你也應該如同我一樣,致力於對所有如來進行供養、侍奉,並作為他們的侍者。」
2.5“Young man, why is that? The natural result of making offerings to, serving, and being an attendant to all tathāgatas is that it will not be difficult for the bodhisattva mahāsattvas to attain the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood, let alone this samādhi, as their natural result.
2.5「青年啊,為什麼呢?對所有如來進行供養、侍奉和作為侍者的自然果報,就是菩薩摩訶薩要獲得無上正等正覺的佛果不會困難,更何況這個三摩地作為自然果報呢。」
2.6“Young man, in that way you should never weary of making offerings to, serving, and being an attendant to all tathāgatas.” [F.8.b]
2.6「年輕人,你應當以這樣的方式,永遠不懈怠地對所有如來進行供養、侍奉和親近。」
2.7Then the Bhagavān taught extensively, as a praise in chanted verses, this chapter on the past lives of the youth Candraprabha:

“I remember six hundred million of those who have the ten strengths,「我憶念六百百萬位具有十力的佛陀,
Dwelling on Vulture Peak Mountain in the past過去住在靈鷲峰
Who taught me, when I was practicing bodhisattva conduct,誰在我修習菩薩行時教導我,
This supreme peace of samādhi. {1}這個最高的三摩地寧靜。
“The last of all of them「他們當中最後的一位
Was the Lord of the World, the illuminator是世界的主宰,光明照耀者
Named Śālendrarāja,名叫山海慧自在王,
And I asked him questions. {2}我向他提出了問題。{2}
“I had become of royal caste.「我出生於王族。
I was the principal king, the sovereign.我是主要的國王,是至高的統治者。
I had five hundred sons,我有五百個兒子,
No less indeed than that. {3}確實不少於那樣。
“For that buddha I built我為那位佛陀建造
Ten million monasteries一千萬座寺院
Made of special sandalwood,用特殊的檀香製成,
And some of precious materials. {4}和一些珍貴的材料。{4}
“I was a king named Bhīṣmottara,「我曾是一位名叫妙稱王的國王,

“The lifespan of the guide Śālendrarāja,「導師山海慧自在王的壽命,
That jina, irreproachable,那位勝者,無可指責的,
Supreme among humans,人中之最。
Was seven hundred and sixty thousand million years. {6}是七百六十萬億年。{6}
“The saṅgha of that supreme man「那位至高者的僧伽
Was composed of eight trillion śrāvakas由八兆位聲聞組成
Who had the three knowledges, the six higher cognitions, and controlled senses,具有三明、六神通,而且根識調伏的
Whose defilements had ceased, and who were in their last body. {7}其煩惱已滅盡,身體已到最後一生。
“At that time I always longed for this samādhi「那時我常常渴望得到這個三摩地
In order to benefit the people of the world and the devas,為了利益世間的人類和天神,
And so I made many kinds of offerings因此我做了許多種類的供養
To that jina, that supreme human. {8}向那位勝者,那位至高無上的人。{8}
“I, with my sons and wives, entered homelessness「我與我的兒子和妻子一起出家
In the presence of Jina Śālendrarāja在勝者山海慧自在王的面前
And I asked questions about this samādhi for我就這個三摩地提出了許多問題
A hundred and forty thousand million years. {9}一百四十兆年。{9}
“I acquired from that sugata我從那位善逝那裡獲得
The single chapter of this samādhi,這個三摩地的單獨一章,
Which has eight thousand trillion verses具有八千兆首偈頌
And moreover another hundred septillion. {10}而且還有另外一百垓偈頌。{10}
“Because I longed for this sublime samādhi「因為我渴望得到這個殊勝的三摩地
There was nothing that I had not previously offered:沒有任何東西是我之前沒有供養過的:
Heads, hands, legs, wives and likewise sons,頭顱、雙手、雙腿、妻子以及兒子,
An abundance of riches, and similarly food to eat. {11}豐富的財富,和同樣的食物來享用。{11}
“I remember ten thousand million buddhas [F.9.a]「我記得十萬億位佛陀
And more, to the number of sand grains in the Ganges,還有更多的,數量如同恆河沙粒那樣多的佛陀,
Residing on Vulture Peak Mountain住在靈鷲峰
And teaching this supreme samādhi, this peace. {12}並傳授這個殊勝的三摩地,這份安樂。{12}
“All of them had the name Śākyaṛṣabha.「他們全都叫釋迦仙人。
All of their sons were named Rāhula.他們所有的兒子都叫羅睺羅。
All their attendants were named Ānanda.他們的侍者都叫阿難。
All were mendicants from places named Kapilavastu. {13}他們都是來自迦毘羅衛國的乞士。{13}
“Their principal two students were Kolita and Śāriputra,「他們的兩位主要弟子是迦旃延和舍利弗,
The names of all the saviors were the same,所有救度者的名字都是相同的,

“While I practiced this bodhisattva conduct,我在修習菩薩行時,

While I longed for this samādhi,當我渴望這個三摩地時,
There was nothing I did not offer to the jinas. {15}我沒有不向勝者供養的東西。{15}
“This samādhi is attained through practicing.「這個三摩地是通過修習而證得的。
Its practice has been taught in many forms.它的修持方法以多種形式被教導過。
This samādhi is not difficult to attain這個三摩地並不難以證得
For those who are established in all good qualities. {16}對於已經安住在一切善法中的人。{16}
“This samādhi is not difficult to attain這個三摩地並不難以獲得
For those who do not grasp pleasures, who have no cravings,對於那些不執著於快樂、沒有貪欲的人來說,
Who have no attachment to family, and are without envy,沒有對家庭的執著,也沒有嫉妒心的人。
Who are continually kind, and are without anger. {17}經常保持慈悲心,沒有瞋恨的人。{17}
“This samādhi is not difficult to attain「這個三摩地不難證得
For those who do not desire honor or gain,對於那些不渴望榮譽或利益的人,
Whose subsistence is pure, who have nothing,其生活清淨,一無所有的人。
Whose conduct is pure, and who are without fear. {18}行為純淨,心無恐懼的人。{18}
“This samādhi is not difficult to attain「這個三摩地不難得到
For those who are diligent, without lassitude,對於那些精進不懈的人,
And who are inclined to solitude, established in purification,並且樂於獨處,安住於淨化之中,
And continually remain in the patience of selflessness. {19}並且持續保持無我的忍中。{19}
“This samādhi is not difficult to attain「這種三摩地並不難以獲得
For those who are not agitated, who have a well-tamed mind,對於那些不被擾亂、具有調伏得當的心的人來說,
Who remain within the conduct of mendicants and bodhisattvas,他們住於乞士和菩薩的行持中,
And who are predisposed toward generosity and are without miserliness. {20}並且對佈施有傾向,沒有慳貪。{20}
“The primary and secondary signs, the eighteen qualities of a buddha,「佛陀的主要和次要特徵,佛陀的十八種特質,
The strengths, and the fearlessnesses that have been described by the Guide導師所說的力量與無所畏
Will not be difficult to attain for one對於能夠維持這個寧靜三摩地的人來說,這些都不難獲得。
Who maintains this samādhi of peace. {21}誰維持這種寧靜的三摩地。{21}
“If all the beings that a buddha can see「如果一位佛陀所能看見的所有生命
Were simultaneously to attain buddhahood,同時證得佛果,
And the length of each of their lives而每一個生命的壽命長度
Were to be countless tens of thousands of millions of eons, {22}都各自經歷無數十萬億劫的壽命,{22}
“And if each of them were to have heads [F.9.b]「而且如果他們每一位都擁有頭顱
As numerous as the grains of sand in the ocean,如海中沙粒那樣眾多,
And if within each head there were tongues而且如果在每個頭顱內都有許多舌頭
As numerous as the number of heads, {23}像頭顱的數量那樣眾多,
“And if all their voices were to describe the benefit而且如果他們所有的聲音都來描述這個三摩地的利益
Of possessing one verse from this samādhi,擁有這個三摩地的一個偈頌的利益,
They would not be able to describe even a fraction of it,他們連其中一分都描述不了,
Let alone describe the benefit of studying it, or of possessing it. {24}更不用說詳細說明學習它或持有它的利益了。
“Whoever has accomplished the practice and developed qualities「凡是成就修行並開發了功德品質的人
Will be adored by devas, asuras, and yakṣas.將被天神、阿修羅和夜叉所崇敬。
The ones who maintain the samādhi of peace, difficult to attain,那些安住在難以獲得的寧靜三摩地中的人們,
Will have kings as their attendants. {25}將會有國王作為他們的侍者。{25}
“The ones who maintain the samādhi of peace that is difficult to attain「修持難以證得的寂靜三摩地的人們
Will be in the care of the jinas.將由勝者照顧。
They will always be attended by devas and nāgas他們將始終受到天神和龍的侍奉。
And opponents will not be able to withstand their brilliance. {26}而且敵對者將無法抵抗他們的光輝。{26}
“The ones who maintain the samādhi of peace「修持寧靜三摩地的人們
Will have infinite eloquence.將具有無量的辯才。
They will teach countless thousands of sūtras他們將傳授無數千部經。
Without the slightest interval. {27}沒有絲毫的間斷。{27}
“Those in the future time of great terrors「那些在未來的大恐怖時代
Who hear this samādhi and keep it聽聞這個三摩地並且保持它的人
Will see the guide, Buddha Amitābha,將會看到導師阿彌陀佛,
And also the realm of Sukhāvatī. {28}以及極樂世界。{28}
“I have revealed these benefits我已經開示了這些利益
And I, the self-arisen Teacher, request而我這位自然生起的師,恭敬請求
That you uphold this pure samādhi你們能夠受持這個清淨的三摩地
In the time after I have passed into nirvāṇa. {29}在我進入涅槃之後的時代。{29}
“The buddhas who have passed into nirvāṇa,「已經進入涅槃的諸佛陀,
Those who will come in the future and those who have appeared now,那些將在未來出現的人,以及那些現在已經出現的人,
All those jinas realize unstained, noncomposite enlightenment所有那些勝者都證悟無染污、無為的菩提。
Through the practice of this samādhi.” {30}通過修習這個三摩地。
