16.1The Bhagavān then said to the youth Candraprabha, “Young man, bodhisattva mahāsattvas thus wish to liberate all beings from all the suffering of existence. They wish to establish beings in the noble, unsurpassable bliss and joy of samādhi. Therefore they should hear this king of samādhis, the revealed equality of the nature of all phenomena, obtain it, understand it, preserve it, recite it to others, promote it, proclaim it, chant it, meditate on it with unadulterated meditation, promulgate it, and make it widely known to others.
16.1薄伽梵對青年月光說道:「青年啊,菩薩摩訶薩這樣希望將所有眾生從存在的一切苦難中解救出來。他們希望將眾生安立在殊勝、無上的三摩地的喜樂和安樂中。因此他們應該聽聞這部三摩地王經——一切現象本性的顯示平等性,獲得它、理解它、保持它、為他人誦持它、推廣它、宣說它、唱誦它,用純淨的禪修來禪修它、傳播它,並使它廣為人知。」
16.2“Why is that? Young man, this king of samādhis, the revealed equality of the nature of all phenomena, causes one to transcend all lower existence and be freed from all illness.

16.3“Young man, when bodhisattva mahāsattvas hear this king of samādhis, the revealed equality of the nature of all phenomena, obtain it, and meditate on it, then, young man, [F.52.b] those bodhisattva mahāsattvas liberate all beings from all the sufferings of existence. They will establish them in the noble, unsurpassable bliss and joy of samādhi, this samādhi will be quickly attained, and the highest, complete enlightenment of perfect buddhahood will be quickly attained.”
16.3「年輕人,當菩薩摩訶薩聽聞這個三摩地王、諸法性質所顯示的平等,獲得它並對它進行禪修時,年輕人啊,那些菩薩摩訶薩就會將一切生命從存在的一切苦難中解救出來。他們將使這些生命建立在高貴的、無上的三摩地的喜樂和歡喜中,這個三摩地將被迅速獲得,無上正等菩提的完美佛果也將被迅速獲得。」
16.4Thereupon the Bhagavān, in order to teach this meaning to Candraprabha, repeated what he had previously said by explaining it in the following verses.

“I remember that, as I was practicing in the past,「我憶念過去修行時,
In the teaching of Sugata Siṃhadhvaja在善逝獅幢佛的教法中

Whose name was Brahmadatta. {1}他的名字叫梵授。{1}
“At that time I was Prince Mati.「當時我是妙智王子。
I was tormented by the pain of an illness.我被病痛所折磨。
The dharmabhāṇaka Brahmadatta法師梵授
Became my teacher at that time. {2}那時成為了我的師父。
“More than five hundred physicians「超過五百位醫生
Diligently sought to cure that illness,努力想要治癒那種病。
But they were unable to cure me of my disease.但他們無法治癒我的病。
Everyone in my family was in suffering. {3}我的全家人都在苦難中。{3}
“The bhikṣu heard about my illness,「那位比丘聽說了我的病,
And he came to me and asked about it.他來到我身邊,詢問我的情況。
Brahmadatta felt great pity for me,梵授對我感到深切的同情,
And he taught me this supreme samādhi. {4}他便教導我這個至高無上的三摩地。
“When I had heard this sublime samādhi「當我聽聞了這個殊勝的三摩地
I experienced a noble, nonworldly joy.我體驗到了高尚、超越世俗的喜悅。
I understood the essential nature of phenomena我理解了現象的本質特性。
And at that time I was healed of my disease. {5}那時我的疾病就得到了治愈。{5}
“That wise dharmabhāṇaka bhikṣu was Dīpaṃkara那位智慧的法師比丘就是燃燈佛
While he was practicing bodhisattva conduct,他在修行菩薩行的時候,
And I was Prince Mati, who was freed from illness我就是過去的妙慧王子,因此獲得解脫病苦
Through the wisdom of the samādhi. {6}通過三摩地的慧。{6}
“Therefore, young man, in the future「因此,年輕人,在未來
Remember past declines like that.要像那樣記住過去的衰退。
Tolerate the bad things the foolish will say忍耐愚癡者所說的壞話
And keep and recite this samādhi. {7}並且受持和誦讀這個三摩地。{7}
“In future time, there will be many bhikṣus「在未來的時代,將會有許多比丘
Who will be covetous, malicious, and without restraint.他們會貪欲、懷恨,而且不守護自己的言行。
They will enjoy bad actions and be attached to alms bowls and robes,他們將沉溺於惡業,執著於缽和袈裟,
And they will reject completely this samādhi. {8} [F.53.a]他們將完全拒絕這個三摩地。{8} [F.53.a]
“They will be unstable, distracted by their senses, and envious,「他們將不穩定,被感官所迷亂,而且嫉妒,
Attached to families and desiring gain.執著於家庭並渴望利益。

And they will reject completely this samādhi. {9}他們將會完全拒絕這個三摩地。{9}
“They will strike with their hands and feet.「他們會用手腳去打擊。
They will always engage in fun and play.他們將始終沉溺於娛樂和遊戲中。

“They will have the signs of inappropriate activity.他們將會表現出不當行為的跡象。

“They will always be engaged in eating and drinking,「他們將常常沉溺於飲食,

They will always be dedicated to buying and selling.他們將始終致力於買賣。
Attached to drinking, they will cast aside their shame. {12}沉溺於飲酒,他們將拋棄慚愧。{12}
“They will carry letters, engaging in inappropriate activity,他們將會傳遞信件,從事不當的行為,
And likewise discard correct conduct and the pure path.同樣地捨棄正行和清淨之道。

“They will be fraudulent with weights and measures,他們會在度量衡上欺詐,

“They will enter homelessness, forsaking home,他們將會出家,放棄家庭,

“They will see wealth and grain as essential.「他們將視財富和穀物為必需。
They will be attached to dairy cows, cattle, and carriages.他們會執著於乳牛、牲畜和車輛。
These people who do not follow the training,這些不遵循訓練的人,
Why will they have shaved their heads? {16}為什麼他們會剃掉頭髮?{16}
“In the past I practiced bodhisattva conduct,「在過去,我修習菩薩行,
Which was extremely difficult, for thousands of eons.這是極其艱難的,我花費了數千劫才修行成就。
I did so seeking this samādhi of peace,我這樣做是為了尋求這個寧靜的三摩地,
But they will laugh when they hear of it. {17}但他們聽到這一點時會發笑。
“For a long time they will lie and will not be celibate.「他們長期以來會說謊,不會守持梵行。
Always enjoying what is harmful, they will descend to the lower realms.常常享受有害之事,他們將墮入惡趣。

But will have bad conduct and what they teach will not be the Dharma. {18}但他們的行為不好,他們所教導的也不是法。{18}
“They will be divided against each other.「他們將互相分裂。
They will yearn for that which is acquired inappropriately.他們會渴望那些不當獲得的東西。
They will say unpleasant things to each other,他們會互相說令人厭惡的話。
And when they die they will go to the level of the lower existences. {19} [F.53.b]他們死後將墮入下層的有。{19} [F.53.b]
“It will be hard to find among a hundred, a thousand,「在一百、一千人中很難找到,
One who has the power of patience.具有忍的力量的人。
Therefore there will be many who are deeply involved in quarreling.因此將會有許多人深深陷入爭執中。
They will explain elaborately, having rejected patience. {20}他們會詳細闡述,卻已經捨棄了忍。
“They will say the words, ‘I am a bodhisattva,’「他們會說:『我是菩薩』,
And those words will spread in every direction.那些言論將向四面八方傳播開去。
They will become conceited through their arrogant, false words,他們會因為傲慢虛假的言語而變得自負。
But how can there be enlightenment for someone whose conduct has gone astray? {21}但是,對於行為已經偏離正道的人,怎麼可能會有菩提呢?{21}
“I have never heard of, nor have I seen,「我從未聽聞過,也從未見過,」
Someone whose motivation is not pure動機不清淨的人
And who has no patience for these phenomena,而且對於這些現象沒有忍的人,
Attaining enlightenment after discarding the Dharma. {22}捨棄法後而證得菩提。{22}
“It is through fear and anxiety they will have abandoned their homes「他們會因為恐懼和焦慮而舍棄家園
And held firmly to the homeless life.並且牢牢堅守出家的生活。
But having acute desires they will proceed toward destruction,但由於欲望熾盛,他們將走向毀滅,
Forsaking the way of the supreme humans. {23}捨棄了至高者的道路。{23}
“They will have inferior wisdom and be devoid of good qualities,他們會擁有劣等的慧,而且缺乏善法,
And they will always be criticizing the supreme yāna.他們將始終批評至高的乘。
They will always be talking about the hundreds of faults他們總是會談論著數百個過失
Of that in which they have taken refuge. {24}他們所皈依的那個。{24}
“Many will have entered homelessness because they had no livelihood.「許多人出家是因為他們沒有生計。
They will have no wish at all for the enlightenment of buddhahood.他們對於佛果的菩提將完全沒有任何願望。
Those foolish ones will maintain the view of a self那些愚昧的人將會執持自我的見解
And become afraid when they hear of emptiness. {25}聽到空時會感到害怕。{25}
“They will quarrel with each other他們會彼此爭執
And develop intractable evil malice.並生起難以調伏的瞋恨。
They will say unpleasant things to each other他們會互相說令人不悅的言語
And find great joy in having done bad things. {26}並在做壞事中得到大喜。{26}
“Those who have correct conduct will have good qualities.具有正行的人將擁有善法。
They will always remain loving and be skilled in patience.他們將始終保持慈愛,並且善於修習忍。
They will be perfectly gentle, kind, and controlled—他們將會完全溫和、善良而有克制。
Yet they will be the ones despised at that time. {27}然而他們將會是那時候被人蔑視的人。{27}
“Those who have wicked minds,「那些懷有邪惡之心的人,
Who are dreadful, and accomplish terrible, very low actions,那些很可怕的人,以及做出可怕、非常低下行為的人,
Those whose conduct is not that of the Dharma and who enjoy fighting:那些行為不符合法、喜愛爭鬥的人們:
They will have offerings made to them at that time. {28}他們在那時將會獲得供養。{28}
“I declare this, I know this.「我宣說這個,我了知這個。
Young man, if you have faith in me,年輕人,如果你對我有信心,
Remember this teaching by the Sugata要記住善逝所說的這個教法
And never depend on those others. {29}永遠不要依賴那些其他人。{29}
“They will have strong desire and strong anger.「他們會有強烈的欲望和強烈的瞋恨。
They will have strong ignorance and be conceited and arrogant.他們將具有強大的無明,並且傲慢和自大。
They will have unrestrained bodies and unrestrained speech他們將有未加約束的身體和未加約束的言語

“I have recited the praises of those qualities「我已讚歎了那些品質的功德
But the bhikṣus will not practice these qualities.但是比丘們將不會修習這些品質。
Enlightenment is not attained by mere words.菩提不是通過單純的言詞就能獲得的。
For one who is dedicated to practice, enlightenment will not be difficult to attain.” {31}對於致力於修習的人來說,菩提將不難得到。
